No matter how big you go with production and texture and sonic experimentation, at the core, there needs to be melodies and chord progressions and rhythms that work on their own – that has been our mantra from the beginning. 

Setting such high standards and looking back at our sophomore record "Picturesque", the question that inevitably came to mind is: "could we live up to them?" To find out we took three of our favorite tracks from from said record – which Stereogum described as “gloriously over the top” in their Album of the Week review – and stripped them back to their basic melodies in their purest form. 

As a result, ‘The Golden Age’ and ‘So To Speak’ lose any sense of bombast and become fragile and introspective, while ‘Sunday Kid’ takes on a whole new lease of life. 

But don't be mistaken – these aren’t demos or anything of that sort, they are proper re-arrangements recorded in a beautiful baroque auditorium in our hometown of Innsbruck on an old – but wonderful sounding – 19th century piano.

And that’s it – it’s vocals, piano, and the natural reverb from that hall, nothing else. The ultimate test so to speak. Did we pass? You'll be the judge...
