It’s my nod to a certain video game’s cool tunes and lead-synth melodies that lived in my head for years and finally slipped out through subconscious inspiration. Like the rest of the QuickServe trio, this was a spur-of-the-moment capture I didn’t want to overthink. Born in the same creative week as Soft Down Math Vibes, it was always meant to complement the next release, QuickServe OG, and rotate inside the app’s three-track jukebox. I tried to ship it in the first build and kept breaking things; by QuickServe 2.0 it clicked right in. Ogun or Ogoun is a god that appears in several African religions.
He is awarrior and a powerful spirit of metal work, as well as of
rum and rum-making. He is also known as the 'god of Iron', and is present in Yoruba religion, Haitian Vodou, andWest African Vodun.
In Yoruba religion, Ogun is a primordial orisha who first appeared as a hunter named Tobe Ode. He is said to have been the first Orisha to descend to the realm of Ile Aiye ("Earth"), to find a suitable place for future human life. In some traditions, he is said to have cleared a path for the other gods to enter Earth, using a metal ax and with the assistance of a dog. To commemorate this, one of his praise names, or oriki, is Osin Imole or the "first of the primordial Orisha to come to Earth". He is the god of war and metals.
