「ゆく河の流れは絶えずして、しかももとの水にあらず...」って言っていた人がいるじゃないですか、800年くらい前に。確かにそうだよなぁと思ったけど、じゃ、聴き比べて感じられるかなぁ？と思ったんですよ。4年前に録音した「川のせせらぎ」をDAWに並べて聴いてみたんです。まぁ、よくわからなかったけど。笑。でも「いい音だなぁ」と思ったんです。この音を聴きながらギターを弾いていると、心が整っていくと言いますか...落ち着くと言いますか...そんな気分になりました。よし1曲やってみようかと。始めはメロディがない曲にしようと思っていたんですが、やっぱり何かあった方が...いや...2転3転しながら...こうなりました。今回は「Tascam model 24」で録音。久々に録音したら良い音だと思えたんです。音痩せが少ないよなと。PCとDAWの組み合わせで録音しているとTascamに限らず「線が細くなってる」と感じることが多かった。使っているオーディオインターフェイスの性質なのかもしれませんが...PC+DWAって...ってのをちょっと疑っている。

バッキングパートは同じフレーズを2回弾いてLRに振っています。バッキングもメロディも音数が多くなりすぎないように気をつけました。鳴っている音よりも鳴っていない空間の方を重視したかった。「川のせせらぎ」が綺麗だったので。ちょいとだけ「minilogue xd」も登場しています。

毎年、今の時期になると「桜が咲いているころかなぁ」と、同じ場所に見に行っている。今年も行ってみました。で「咲いてるなぁ...」と、ぼそっと一人でつぶやいて写真を数枚撮って帰ってくる。家に帰って確認すると、いつ撮ったものなのか全くわからないくらい同じような桜の写真が毎年並ぶ。笑。好きな角度とか場所とか決まってしまっているんでしょうね。自分で笑ってしまう時があるくらい。「毎年同じ写真じゃーん」って。「ゆく河の流れは絶えずして、しかももとの水にあらず...」。まぁ、本当は同じではないんでしょうけど。

自分を癒すためにこんなことをやっている気もしてきました。今回は特に満足できたので良かったなと。楽しんでもらえたら嬉しいです。4月・5月くらいの気候が好きなんですよね。湿度が低くて過ごしやすいので。ただ、調度いいなと思える時期は短い...。今年も梅雨は来るのか？意外と来ないのか？そんなわけないのか？はたして...

I felt like this one needed the extra time to unfold and develop in the direction it wanted to go, could be my longest solo piece yet! My songwriting process has moved almost entirely to Ableton Live and I'm find it to be such an inspiring workflow. This is yet another recent track where I'm having fun weaving in the guitar.

I can’t believe it’s been over 250 days since I last released a single. For the longest time, I struggled to feel proud of anything I created. Hate It When It’s You changed that for me. This song means so much... it’s truly special. I hope it becomes a small part of your life too, and maybe even helps you the way it helped me.

Introducing - 'No Rainbow Without the Rain - Sounds of Rain & Thunder' an album full of rain sounds!🌈 I've wanted to record a rain album for the longest time and it finally happened! I'm so excited and grateful that it exists! When I was coming up with the song names, an idea came to title each track as a popular rain themed idiom or saying or message. So, here's a fun (could be fun?) game - shuffle the album and the first track you get is your message for the day, like a rain-themed fortune cookie! hahaha! I don't know, I'm just rambling at this point because I'M SO EXCITEDDD!🌧️
