Sequential Circus is a happy track, it's me just having fun with my Doepfer A-100 and Roland 100m modular synths. It is a single take live performance and not edited. 
The key modules used in the Doepfer were MFB SEQ-02, Doepfer A-156 Quantizer and A-140 ADSRs. In the Roland I used the 112 VCOs, 121 VCFs and 130 VCAs. The main parameters changed during the performance were ADSR range switches, Sequencer A, B and A+B switch plus filter cutoffs.


Sequential Circus

This is a bit quirky but I actually like this a lot - it is a single take performance using the Roland 100m and Doepfer modular synths with no editing. It's the first time I had an idea and tried putting it to music - it's about the magic that a child feels when they discover something exciting and lose themselves in play (i.e. me and synths). I was going to add strings and edit out some of the sqeaks but have decided to leave it as it is.


Entirely played on Roland 100m VCOs, LFOs&nbsp;and VCFs&nbsp;using a Doepfer Joystick controlling&nbsp;Roland LFO levels&nbsp;with a pair of Doepfer linear VCAs&nbsp;via a&nbsp;Doepfer dual quantizer, tempo set by a LFO, The filters are controlled manually&nbsp;and also by long time constant ADSRs triggereed by the quantizer - complicated? Guess that's why I have not been able to reproduce the patch - must take better notes!



Magic Box

Just a simple patch and idea and doesn't use a sequencer although it might sound like it, just LFOs, VCOs and VCFs on the Roland 100m and Doepfer modulars in a single take.



Consequences

This is a recording of some very basic sounds using my Novation KS4 (throbbing background) and K Station (arpeggios). It is an attempt at producing the ominous, brooding kind of atmosphere that featured in Michael Mann's 'The Keep' which is a Tangerine Dream fest of a film.&nbsp;It is a first step, a sketch if you like,&nbsp;and I may develop the idea further one day.



First Step

No analogue synths sorry! A temporary departure - normal service will be resumed shortly. This is me getting something out of my system i.e. picking up a guitar for the first time in a year or so and making some noise. It is a partial cover of Tool's 'Right In Two'. It is just a sketch and the playing,timing and production is not that good - if anyone likes it I may well do a polished version - I doubt if I could ever do Tool justice though - they are such a mesmeric band.


Not Quite Right In Two

This is a track about momentary craziness brought on by stressfull situations i.e. "losing it". A repetitive sequence that morphs slowly and builds (as your mind goes round in circles and the pressure builds), the final straw is represented by some guitar crunches followed by mayhem until the fuse blows - the end.
Modular synths recorded in a single live take, the guitar added after. Equipment used: Roland 100m 112 VCOs, 121 VCF, Doepfer A-121 VCF, A-110 VCO, 2 x A-156 Quantizers, A-174 Joystick, MFB SEQ-02 sequencer - filters controlled by the Joystick - plus a Tanglewood Les Paul copy.

Hi and welcome to my SoundCloud page. Apologies I have not been on Soundcloud for over a year so have neglected my A Perfect Tool group but will try to catch up. 
Here's a bit about me, the gear I use and some other stuff:-

I have been messing around with synths since about 1975; making noises and building circuits. Back in the day I was much impressed by the sounds of synths used by artists such as Yes, Camel, Greenslade, Tangerine Dream, Rush, Patrick Moraz, Rick Wakeman, Bill Nelson and Tomita.

I love analogue synths - I have a Roland SH09, a Roland SH5, two Sequential Circuits Pro Ones (both with Synthwood kits) and my absolute favourites are my two modular synths (Roland 100m and a Eurorack modular system) and my Moog Voyager. I also use a Novation K Station, a Novation KS4 and the VAZ+ softsynth.

My keyboard skills are rudimentary but improving, my favoured control method is a Doepfer R2M ribbon controller, a MFB SEQ-02 sequencer and a joystick.

I like the tracks I have posted but they are early works and are unsophisticated arrangements and basic recordings.

My current music inpirations are Yes, Tool, A Perfect Circle, The Knife, Fever Ray, FischerSpooner, Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, Dream Theater, Soundgarden, King Crimson, Bill Nelson plus a load of other rock, blues, electronic, prog, classical stuff etc. A little varied!?

My main focus and reason for neglecting Soundcloud this past year is I am totally focussed on running Synovatron - I design and make modular synth bits and pieces - modules, adaptors etc.
