As winter takes its last breath in Montreal, we revisit the latest Quebecois artist to grace XYZ - Monarke. The Edge of Reality EP launched earlier this year to a hearty reception, and we follow it up with a set of remixes brimming with innovative energy.

Jessica Zese’s vocal performance on Otherside forms the backbone of the project, offering the centerpiece that sews the thread between these four tracks. Her balance of emotive power and soft prose make for memorable dancefloor moments and crucial character for the remixing artists. 

Venturing down to Australia, Monarke connects with Made in Paris. After garnering widespread recognition with the likes of Trampoliner & Anjunadeep, we’re thrilled to have her debut on XYZ. Plaisirs Sonores Records, the Montreal-based label founded by Hicky & Kalo, is thrilled to announce its monumental 50th release. 

To mark this significant milestone, the label presents two exceptional remixes of previously released tracks by the label founders. 

Karmon, the prodigious talent associated with Diynamic, emerges from a three-year hiatus to bestow an illustrious remix upon the timeless 'Time We Spent Together.' In his signature style, Karmon crafts a masterpiece that is destined to become an instant classic, honoring the melody of Hicky & Kalo. 

Makebo, known for his distinctive blend of organic and progressive elements, takes the reins on 'Luminous Path,' infusing the original track with his unique touch. Already championed by industry luminaries such as Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Amonita, and M.O.S., Makebo's remix is set to captivate both old and new audiences. 

Label founders Hicky & Kalo express their gratitude for the journey so far: "Reaching our 50th release is a momentous occasion. Canadian producer and DJ Monarke has already made a name for himself on the music scene, currently being released through Berlin based label STEYOYOKE and multiple collaborations with Soul Button’s. His music is defined as an eclectic range of productions ranging from ethereal techno to melodic electronic music. It’s not hard to see why Monarke has gained support from the like of Joris Voorn, his track ”Passage” was a Highlight of his 2020 Awakening performance, released on the famous ”global underground” compilation.
