I wrote this song during the shutdowns of the pandemic. It was crazy seeing everyone lose everything, even people who would not have lost their jobs, just lose everything. It put people in positions where they had to hustle and maybe revisit an old hustle to make ends meet. I was talkin to my friend about the stress I was dealing with and she was like, "Are you writing, for an outlet? Get back on your shit". That sparked something in me when I heard the beat to the song.

I wanted to capture the feeling you felt when you first heard what later became the song of the summer. On a personal level, this song feels the way I felt when I first heard Gin & Juice, The Chronic, or Picture Me Rollin. 

With a Modern day feel, "Gangsta" is the kind of song that plays from the car to the cookout. With lyrics that glide a West Coast beat, this song brings brings the 90's into the modern era.
