Nikko.Z's Dopamine White continues to add new talent to their roster by welcoming Waxman to the label for his debut EP. The Canadian artist emerged in 2017 with a release on Blake Sutherland's now defunct Wide Angle Recordings. Fresh and colourful across the progressive spectrum, the EP led to further projects via 3rd Avenue, Droid9, ICONYC and Strange Town Recordings, all of which now sit as highlights in his well-kept discography. Continuing what has been a prolific year in 2021, Waxman now lands on Dopamine White with a four-track showcase entitled ‘Days Like These'. 

Continuing to gain loyal fans with his vibrant sounds, it is the title track which leads the release off. Anchored by a warm kick, its swing heavy core rises quickly, with layers of pulsating rhythms and finely tuned percussion filling in the framework. Waxman's luminous design and distinctive drive have forged a sound that is all his own, with ‘Days Like These' being a perfect example. Relying heavily on rhythm and groove, its club friendly nature captivates you, while timely vocal elements and warm swells highlight the seven-minute journey. Meanwhile, the second selection ‘Taking Flight' explores an even stronger emotional narrative. Buoyant and powerful, its fragmented melodies and warm overlays are highly reflective, flowing smoothly over a robust, key changing groove, before a piano led break seals it's brilliance.

The EP's midway point is marked with the smooth, nostalgic vibes of ‘Just Another Dream'. Punchy beats, rolling rhythms and lively percussion unite for a groovy rhythmic core. Emerging atmospheres and colourful melodies then advance the narrative, splitting moods between joyous and playful, before perfectly setting up a whimsical break and bouncy conclusion. Rounding out the release and showcasing a deeper site of his studio repertoire is ‘Caught in the Balance'. Trippier and less distinct than its predecessors, the piece moves through rhythmic pulses and atmospheric phrases, while wonky tones add just the right amount of bounce to the groove. Tasteful modulation elevates the narrative as the break evolves, making for spine tingling moments, as a gentle rush sparks a hypnotic finale. It caps off four gorgeous productions from Waxman, who debuts on Dopamine White with his strongest material to date.

Often pushing envelopes of sound in between the realms of – disco, house & techno – an approach that defines the past present & future, where  dance floors are spaces for genres to collide, expanding new rhythmic tensions, blending tracks from space & time.

Welcome to our weekly radio show. This week we are happy to invite DJ Oyun. 

Oyun is a Mongolian dj & producer. From the age of 9, she fell in love with folk music and her desire to learn more about music, attracted her to electronic music. Participated in international and Mongolian (Defected mix competition, Sunset festival) competitions. In 2017, she joined URDJ and started playing in Mongolian venues (CUE +, Choco, Playtime). Since 2018, Oyun has been airing Reflexion Radio Show on InsomniaFM every month. She also participated in songwriting competitions from Eurovision, PointBlank, and Intro festival.
After exploring through many genres/subgenres, Oyun fell in love with hard/dark techno.
The dark mysterious sounds and heavy kicks of this musical genre fascinated her straight away.

Welcome to our weekly podcast. This week we are happy to introduce another talented DJ Artist from Mongolia. DJ Bonze

Since 2006, DJ Bonze began working as an electronic music artist. During this time, he mixed 11 series of progressive trance and electro house compilation under the name "Ordinary World". Released in 2007, Echo was a Mongolian club and dance music hit. In 2008, his track "Can’t stay away" was popular among Mongolian electronic music listeners. Recently, Bonze joined the "Kabb" label in 2020 as an artist & DJ and worked on four songs with singer Roxy, which she plans to release in 2021.
