"We Had A Nice Time, But..." a work in progress

Wind chimes heard at the front door of my home in New York juxtapose with Westerly willows heard on a weekend away, exploring the relationship between home and away, and exploring the relationship between wind and two of wind's acoustic playmates: chimes and willows. Then, wind-made chimes verses human-made chimes collide. 

Chimes at the front door of a diner shift the listener to a diner, The Hungry Haven in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Over the busy sounds of the diner, a patron exclaims, "We had a nice time, but...".

My husband and I had a nice time in Rhode Island, but... it was too windy!  That said, I spent my time doing homework in the venue-provided hotel room, while my musician husband played his gig. In the morning, we spent time together recording the iconic wind in the willows and eating a delicious breakfast at The Hungry Haven. 

The chimes at the diner are heard again shifting the listening back to the wind and its acoustic playmates.  Everything is okay. 

We had a nice time, but I had to rise above the wind which prevented the mental health boost I get from visiting the (non-pre-hurricane) shore. The wind also prevented me from recording the gentle coastal sounds I was hoping for. That said, it was fun finding places to record with my husband, and I ate THE BEST Lobster Eggs Benedict there ever was. 

We had a nice time, but...

*As for this being a "work in progress", I want to continue to work on the first transition between the wind chimes and the diner chimes. I played with the fade tools (fade and crossfade) but don't quite have the skills to smooth that transition right just yet. That said, I think the second diner to wind chimes transition is good. If I add more to this composition, I'm thinking about going from form ABCBA to ABCDCBA by adding another element between silverware clattering.

Wind Chimes And Willows (Project 1)

In search of the most beautiful sound, I decided upon the human heart beat, the sound of life. I wanted to make a piece of music by adding a beautiful piano track to the beat of the heart.  I decided to add four layers of the same piano track.  At first, I was going to manipulate the pitch, but after manipulating the rhythm of the four tracks against the heartbeat, I liked it enough to stop.  For the purpose of this project, it is likely necessary to add pitch shifting, time stretching, or effects like reverb, but I find it very interesting to listen to as is. On another note, I don't know if I love the breathing before and after the piano piece, so that may need to be deleted or better faded. That said, I do like what that element adds.
