Into the Depths - for Vybz Indoor Music Festival 2023

This is my 30 minute submission (mix/entry) for the 1st Leg of the Pioneer DJ "Asia House Rumble" 2023 House Music Pro DJ Competition. Presented by Jagermeister PH. Supported by Funktion-One Philippines & AIAIAI. Organized by Silent Noise, White Banana, Sessions Academy, Dr. Wine. Prelims: 04-05 Dec 2023; Finals: 12 Dec 2023

ABOUT THE MIX: Most of my influences are underground music, so picking more familiar songs that could work with my style took awhile. I love genre-fluidity, albeit being tricky, but it's always the vibe that matters. 

ABOUT ME: I'm definitely a late "bloomer" -- from exposure to House music, parties, and even learning how to DJ (all started in the very late 30s). When it comes to my DJ experience, my first ever paid gig was in Thailand (June 2021, stopped due to pandemic restrictions), but I restarted DJing professionally (at age 40), upon returning to Manila in 2022.

2023 Pioneer DJ Competition - Monica Mingoa

After leaving corporate life in 2019, Monica became a nomad traveling around Maldives, India, and Nepal. Her plans were to continue traveling & volunteering/working odd jobs abroad (yoga teacher, bartender, production coordinator, etc.) but this stopped due to the 2020 pandemic where she got stranded in Thailand.After settling in Koh Phangan (known for the Full Moon parties), she immersed herself with DJs from the underground scene. After regularly performing at private villa parties, she had her first official gig in June 2021, right before full lockdown was implemented. As pandemic restrictions eased in the Philippines in 2022, she got to go back home and perform regularly in bars, clubs, private, corporate and underground events in and outside of Metro Manila.
