Joakim Moesgaard hails from the Southern Danish performance art scene. In his solo performances and diverse collaborations he constantly explores and experiments with a variety of styles and genres: Be it breakcore, jazz-influenced performances, theatre plays or trashy auto-tune music videos, Moesgaard shows a sense for dramaturgy—sometimes a bit sarcastic and humorous, always sincere.

With the PCIA EP, Joakim Moesgaard serves an audible meal full of profound, bittersweet, yet spicy ingredients that invites you to step back a bit and take delight in two narratives (side a and side b) depicting his artistic background.

This time, he picks you up for a rough ride through the heart of his home state of Saxony: The a-side takes you from early 90ies post-communist street action in Bauchlitz and Grimma to socialist Plattenbau romantics in Döbeln Nord. The flipside features chivalric 303 sounds echoing from the walls of Kriebstein Castle and delves into sonic cybernetic studies in Zwickau.

With his second solo release, Leise im Kran sharpens his knives to serve meticulously sliced breakbeat science accompanied by oddly stirred acid basses. Uniquely flambéed chord progressions round out this three-star five-course menu.

The vegetable is coming of age: During the last twelve months, we were celebrating the release of four excellent Eggplant meals plus that highly diverse flavor of electronic music the Moniker is known for. This birthday compilation takes a look back on this fabulous first year. The galley's chef asked a bunch of artists that were involved in the past releases to remix their favorite tune. The result is the 'Recipes for Reconstruction' remix compilation containing no less than 16 tracks. The list of ingredients is known, but their combination has changed. So taste again an unheard blend of Rollin' Beats and Heavy Basses, spiced with the whole spectrum of electronic goodness, ranging from Glitchy Blips to rich Ambient Textures.

The compilation will be released on october 18th.

With their third album 'Gaps‘ the Polish band RZWD showcases a style-bending menu whose main course is based on post-rock ingredients. The surrounding dishes are influenced by different genres such as experimental, noise and electronic dance music. In that sense RZWD creates a haunting mélange of acoustic instruments, electronics and DSP. Mostly resulting from live recordings and jams, the eight pieces of 'Gaps‘ evolve very organically which makes them an unparalleled pastiche-pastry that our chef incorporates into our cookbooks with pleasure.

Clystre's debut album 'Arpichelago' is reminiscent of Kraut, early synth pop, psychedelic and electronica. Carefully crafted synth voices, rhythms and textures form this joyous yet compelling sonic menu. With his album Carsten Rochow invites us to the eastern German countryside where we witness how a multitude of electronic music gear and natural surroundings can lead to detailed compositions whose repetitive but multifaceted structures provide a sense of timelesness and immersiveness. 

'Arpichelago' is a ticket to a sonic vacation including the four seasons: After days with '15 Inches of Snow', vernal gardening sessions do follow in 'Gartentraum'. While the title track of the album reminds of hot, summery moments, 'Cutting Wind' reminds of a long autumn walk out in the Fields of the Altmark. 

‚Arpichelago' will be released as limited 12" vinyl record on February 14th 2025.

The fourth release by Berlin-based NUUK once again showcases the duo’s deep connection to field recordings and synthesized sounds, resulting in a captivating journey through natural imagery. NUUK’s music is characterized by an escapist mood, evoking narratives of northern landscapes: the sea, majestic fjords, sparse greenery, and enchanted forests. The duo’s compositions also reflect the fragile, ephemeral nature of an endangered world—melting glaciers, vanishing flora and fauna, and shifting seasonal cycles.

'FOUR' is NUUK’s most bass-heavy work to date, boldly emphasizing the arduous efforts of seafaring in the subarctic. Dive into a sonic scenery of nature recordings, contrasting harmonies, and parameter-controlled melodies.

NUUK - FOUR (Prelisten)

Media artist Enrique del Castillo, known as UMBRAFONO, revives the art of optical sound synthesis pioneered in the 1920s. Drawing and photographing geometric forms and ornamental patterns directly onto 35mm celluloid strips, UMBRAFONO transforms visual imagery into sound with the help of modified optical film projectors equipped with photosensitive cells.

This release presents a collection of rhythmic sound collages that make the visual directly experiential through audio. UMBRAFONO layers his hand-drawn frequencies into complex harmonic structures, creating sounds hard to replicate by digital means. Each composition emerges from the interplay between light and shadow, where carefully calibrated geometric shapes generate harmonic frequencies, atmospheric textures, and pulsing rhythms.

UMBRAFONO's approach connects directly to cinema's earliest analog soundtrack technology, reimagined for contemporary listening. The resulting pieces offer a uniquely warm, organic sound palette—one that bridges the gap between graphic art and sonic experience. Each track represents an original composition in both physical and audio form, where the visual score and its sonic translation exist as inseparable elements of the same artistic vision.

Within SECOND ALBUM forgotten analog techniques meet modern sound exploration, revealing textures and frequencies that can only emerge from the marriage of light, celluloid, and time.

The galley’s chef is finally back with a new plate serving only the tastiest eggplants. This time the recipe is inspired by the eastern asian cuisine from China.
The Skweee-Mastermind MESAK is teaming up with chinese MC and singer CHACHA for ‘Collapsing’ – a sonic odyssey into a fainting world full of tumbling beats and spheres, seasoned with lyrics envisioning a decomposing planet.
The flipside offers ‘Lahota’, Mesak’s poetic, yet utterly rhythmic ode to ancient, britten wood – A ride trough the muddy, dark and enchanted scandinavian forests.

We're happy to present the 10th release on Moniker Eggplant. The 'Phindings EP' features SUUB – the visual bass music duo, now appearing on vinyl for the first time. The 7" record (limited to 200 copies) includes two playful post-dubsteppy tracks. The a-side serves 'Gaussian Swagger' (130 Bpm) – a breaky, rhythmically vibrating sub bass worm directly infiltrating your ears and feet. It includes well programmed bass-heavy synths and precisely processed drums – the ingredients SUUB is known for. The flip-side with 'Straight In No Kissin' ' (170/85 Bpm) is a more engaging tune: Fast syncopated drum breaks oscillate around constantly and algorithmically evolving synth melodies.

SUUB is a liaison dangereuse between the dub longtimer https://soundcloud.com/beamup and the dub/dubstep drummer https://soundcloud.com/dj-giotto. The resulting tracks are mixtures of playful deep basses and rolling breaks – a must have for every bass music enthusiast.

We're glad to announce the first album in our catalogue. Our 11th installment is another split release, this time with MINOR LABEL from Leipzig where it hits the street as No. 35.

This 12-inch vinyl is literally the sixth EGGPLANT release that features the live electronic music duo MEIER & ERDMANN - it's their first appearance on MINOR. Raised up and founded in Leipzig, their unique blend of acoustic and electronic sounds, recorded both in the studio and in the fields and then meticulously sequenced and brought to the stage in one of their iconic live shows proves their broad background in classical, jazz and various bass-heavy electronic dance music styles. 'HOWLER MONKEY' - the duo's first album - incorporates all these components and forms a sonic narrative oscillating between the organic and the algorithmic, the abstract and the concrete, the humorous and the melancholic.

'HOWLER MONKEY' will be released in January 2017.
