In the last two years, I've experienced many a night at home, alone, thinking about the world and my place and purpose within it. I've spent nights journeying deep inside and have experienced a kaleidoscope of emotion; sadness, joy, hope, despair, love, anger, delight, disgust and a myriad of others. I have gone into and experienced my own darkness and the darkness that surrounds me...and some of those nights have felt immensely sacred. In some of these journeys, it has felt like I have communed with some Spirits that left me in awe of their beauty.  

This is some of the music that has kept me company on those journeys. I hope it resonates for you and your journey.

Elements Vol. 5 - Sand

The last time I posted one of these sets was in the darkest days of the Lockdown in 2020 - an eternity away when everything about the world felt less certain and a little more raw. This set was recorded on New Year's Day 2023 in New Zealand - the middle of summer in the Southern Hemisphere and instead a time of hope and renewal for me and the world. While I a tag of these tracks in my collection as "Dark" (hence the title of this series) they are just as often the some of the most emotionally full and sensorially astonishing tracks that I experience as a DJ - and I love these journeys as much as I love any of the music that I am fortunate to be able to play and publish for your listening pleasure.

Graceful, yet unpredictable. Beautiful, yet on the edge of some carnal desire. There is a tangibly dark essence about it, as though he is picking up the undertones of everything that surrounds him. It sounds like a different breed of music, a new species, and as though it originates from the underworld of his mind.
When Moniker gets on the decks, he instantly allures you into his strange world-- as moths are drawn to the light, the night owls are drawn to his music.
