Taken from "Balam - Chants of Pachamama (Part 2) EP (Hard Fist)". Out October 15th.

After a first volume released in September 2020 on Hard Fist, Argentinian Balam comes with “Chants of Pachamama (Part. 2)”, including a remix by Matias Aguayo.
This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end. 
The opening track “Yagé” is the name for a magic plant that can be found in many places in South America. With a tight djembe, the magician comes with his chants for starting the ceremony just before the bass bursts for a pagan dance. An irresistible lead synth takes the climax higher until the break where the magician enters the void and the psychedelic trip begins.
“El Curandero” - the chaman who leads the ritual - is the second tune of a frenetic organic and modular percussion bass driven dance stomper. Blazing synthesizers create a state of confusion and hallucinations when “el curandero” chants his icaros. The djembes and shakers move behind the heavy bassline while analog ding and dongs go crazy all over.
The second last track “Golfo”, just before the remix, is an instrumental tune, the end of the experience: heavy synthetic percussion, modular ambient sounds, a modal marimba and a very present djembe jamming until it fades in the analog night.
The closing track is a great reinterpretation of “Wakax” from “Chants of Pachamama (Part 1)” by the legend Matias Aguayo. A dark and heavy bass mixed with a tricky use of lots of the original elements makes you wanna twerk all night long.

More and more I’ve realising that as humans and artists we create space and also invite each other into these spaces. With space I’m referring to all dimensions; e.g. physical, emotional, psychological, mental. 
Some natural and highly relevant questions comes with this understanding: With what intention am I taking part in creating the world? How are my invitation affecting the world we live in? Can I contribute to the changes needed to allow balance and sustainability in the world? 

I strongly feel that all beings are fundamentally the flow of creativity and for all humans it’s essential to find one’s own way/channel to express this creativity. By doing this we naturally allow the balance needed to express in a sustainable way.
As an artist I know that I have potential to invite others to remember this. 

I’m so inspired and happy to see the Earth Percentage project taking form, making it possible for me as an artist to contribute to one of the most important challenges we as humanity are facing.

Rotten City Edits presents a rework of the song; "El Dragón" by Los Brujos, a legendary Argentine band of the so-called "Nuevo Rock Argentino", a movement of aesthetic freedom and new cultural coordinates that occurred in the early 90s. Los Brujos, produced by the enigmatic and eclectic figure of Daniel Melero, have been an icon of the psychedelic sound and the Argentine new wave. This edit by A.Y.Y.V. infiltrates contemporary clubs with a small piece of music history articulated in an energetic, brilliant and lysergic electronic work.



A.Y.Y.V. are the acronyms of Alalwa (Alvaro Soto) and Yerno Vil (Pedro Cerván Lacunza), DJs, event promoters and music producers united in the creation of a live electronic music duo. Its sound aesthetic crosses the genetics between cosmic disco, acid house and indie dance, in an amalgamation of analog textures, digital percussions and samples that constantly mutate, crossed at all times by acidic and lysergic bass lines.

The group is formed in the center of Madrid, upon the arrival of Yerno Vil from Buenos Aires; DJ and music producer, his italo/dark disco gene is transfused with the acid house psycho trip imprint present in the DJ sets of Alalwa, resident DJ at Ballesta Club, Radio Phoenix and Intruso Club, music producer and event promoter.

Since the end of 2023, they have been developing music composed exclusively with
rhythm machines, samplers, and synthesizers without the presence of a computer and performing live in live and DJ formats.

Berlin duo Kotelett & Zadak have released a steady stream of kooky tracks on Exploited Ghetto over the last few years amidst other outings for the likes of Poker Flat Recordings. You can always count on them to deliver some potent material for the dancefloor, and this new pack doesn’t fail to excite.

The title track "The Big Feeling" is a masterclass in dancefloor economics, with not a note or frequency wasted in this stripped-back, focused slice of magic. Its slow-burning approach sees a dreamy, hazy vocal inject a subtle sense of soul into a looping, gentle techno rhythm. Snares are only unleashed halfway through, the simplest of hi-hats ticking away up until then and laconic synth refrains twinkling over the brooding bass tones. Play it loud and marvel at the way it imperceptibly draws you in.

"Sam Same" hooks you in with its rapid-fire metallic percussion and a pulsing lead synth which is full of drama and suspense. Ticking hi-hats drive the track along as subtle washes of reverb swell gently beneath. A resonant, bubbling 8-bit style synth rears its head from time to time with cartoon-like charisma. Shrieking, muted organ-like sounds add more colour still in the break. A nagging arpeggio builds the intensity further as sleek hi-hats pick up the energy further. These constituent parts could easily be combined into something overblown and intense, but the subtlety displayed throughout is a far more powerful option.
