Monkey Funk

I started working on this with the intention of submitting it to a Sunvox competition posted on warmplace ~ create a song using only FM synths and Drum synths. Part way through working on it I realized I'd need to start cutting out components to meet the file size requirements, so I decided to keep working on it and forget about the competition. This was a great opportunity to learn a little bit more about FM synths - previously I was ignoring the FM synth completely... now I see FM as a big reservoir of 'sound-flavor' waiting to be explored even further.

Mattafix - Big City Life DJKennerK Reggae Remix

This started off as a nice clean recording of a piece called 'Natalia' on the classical guitar... but a few notes were off, so I imported the recording into sunvox slathered it with effects and removed all references to the dry audio, leaving only the effects. The effects were manipulated and recorded live into and reversed in Audacity, then re-imported into Sunvox as a background ambient track. FM synth, a few Generators, a Farfisa, Roland, piano, choir, Drum synth and percussion samples etc.  were layered on top to produce two different audio tracks. One at 130 bpm and one at 260 bpm. These tracks were imported back into Audacity to intermingle, the majority from the 130 bpm. The later portion of the song is the reversed classical guitar... or rather the shadow it created in the effects track. Just thought I would clarify as it's tagged as #Sunvox but has been imported /exported out of Audacity. It made me think of Kubrick, so, 'Stanleys Plan' is the name. I'll upload my version of Natalia when I'm happy with the recording.
