thump jazz represents a crystallization of my sound as an artist. I've poured over the technicals of mixing and really focused on crafting something unique and fresh. 

the result is soulful elements driven by heavy kicks and thick basslines. not quite classic house, not quite jazz house, not quite tech house, and not quite deep house but drawing on all these elements to give you something chill and groovy. i can't describe it much more than that. of course, why read when you can listen?

I've decided to make "katana" a statement. a statement of where I've been and what is to come. This is the end of my first era as a producer. over the past year i've refined my process, my production, and my workflow culminating in this album. 

if thump jazz defined my sound, rooftops refined it, katana represents the culmination of all my hard work. the production here is safe and clean. i haven't taken a ton of creative chances and i'm still learning how to create and leverage motifs in my music. 

but in its current state, "katana" represents the satisfaction that i have for my art. the album flows conceptually. the songs more or less have the same loudness and flow effortlessly into one another another. it's a snapshot in time of my happiness, grit, and relentless drive to carve a unique sound for myself in modern dance music and i'm very excited to share it with you.

- "hombre plata is a LA Native with a deep appreciation for all genres of music. From the womb to his adult life he’s been surrounded by music. 

He fell asleep to classic masters as an infant and toddler, then played flute for multiple years as a child into his early teens. His parents quizzed him on classic rock artists, and his grandparents opened his world to jazz. He discovered an affinity for house music during his time both in and after university. Now, he’s set out on his own journey to craft and mix sounds into electronic arrangements that tantalize the eardrums. 

While still exploring his artistic style, he’s committed to showcasing his journey with friends, family, and fans who appreciate his honest approach to production. He remains committed and true to himself, foregoing the need to submit his music to labels to pursue his own sound that he hopes people around the world will listen to and enjoy. And, while dreams of label acquisition are certainly on his mind, he hopes that they will come naturally and unforced. Crafting a unique sound that sets him apart from other producers and takes his listeners on a journey is at the forefront of his mission. 

His albums and EPs represent an ode to yesteryears, where concept albums and artistic vision shine thru in an age dominated by simple singles and fast content."

an ode to my city's rich history of protests. a double entendre where a rally house track meets the incredible right of free speech. a rally grows and builds throughout the day. despite some close calls throughout the day, the rally  culminates in a climax of voices all joined together in a single peaceful purpose with people shouting from the rooftops.

This mix opens in that soft-focus zone with Andrés, Kellie Allen, sometimes jah, Rick Wade, Retromigration, Jason Hersco, Demuir, Crackazat and Ross Couch – dusty drums, Rhodes, sax, cozy vocals, all very bar-open and shoulder-loose. From there it leans into vocal and disco energy (DJ Spen & Reelsoul, Bassel Darwish, GURI & Life on Planets, Samo, Miura edit, Supernova & Mr. V), lifting the swing and tightening the groove without losing warmth. The back third tilts into modern minimal, deep tech and breaks: Kolter, Prunk, Ranger Trucco, Liquid Earth, Tunnelvisions, Oden & Fatzo/Vitess and Subjoi push the tempo and weirdness, turning it into afters territory.
