Radio Slave announces Rekids Special Projects ‘Actualize’ compilation and DJ mix - Part 1 will be released in January, with Part 2 to follow in February 2023.

Rekids Special Projects, the no-nonsense techno-focused sub-label of Radio Slave, aka Matt Edwards’ Rekids, launched in 2017 and has since released music from the likes of Mark Broom, Luke Hess, Jon Hester, and more. For the 50th release, Edwards readies ‘Actualize’, bringing acts from the wider Rekids universe into one slick collection, with the first part arriving this January alongside a DJ mix of the tracks.

“The original concept was a vinyl-only offshoot of Rekids, focusing on techno and a home for our extended family of artists. We’re now working with so many new and exciting young artists, such as Confidential Recipe and the incredible Theo Nasa, and Rekids Special Projects is a rock-solid platform to shout about good quality club-focused techno music. Monnom Black presents” Legacy”, an introspective journey through the illustrious career of the legendary German electronic artist, Thomas P. Heckmann. This momentous release marks the first time Heckmann curates a comprehensive compilation, delving into all his various aliases and timeless tracks, including Knarz, AGE, Heckmann, Skydiver, Spectral Emotions, Purple Plejade, and the infamous DRAX, which commemorates its 30th anniversary this year.

"Legacy" encompasses a total of 23 tracks, 17 slated across three slabs of vinyl with an additonal six digital bonuses, featuring the cream of Heckmann's underground hits, such as "Himmel Und Hoelle," "Tanzmaschine," "Teufelswerk," and "EBM1," alongside lesser-known gems like "Chiswick Days" and "Parnophelia."

Throughout his career, Heckmann has showcased his prowess across multiple shades of electronic genres. However, it is his contributions to Industrial, EBM-Techno, Acid, and Experimental that have propelled him to notoriety. In 1994, Heckmann's acid-infused masterpiece, "Amphetamine" as DRAX LTD. II, launched him into the global spotlight as a force to be reckoned with.

Having released his latest studio album, "Body Music," in 2018 on Monnom Black, Heckmann subsequently featured on The World of Monnom Black compilations. Now, he returns to celebrate his groundbreaking contributions to electronic music and enduring Legacy with this special release.

Following the widely praised Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) ‘Minimum One Post A Week’ EP, which kicked off the Primal Instinct label last summer and won the support of the likes of Rodhad, Tasha, and Luke Slater, as well as routine plays from Sarah Story on BBC Radio 1, Chlär now returns to his imprint with solo venture ‘Modern Survival’. While the first Primal Instinct release saw references to artist urges and behaviours on social media, this next instalment explores a modern recontextualisation of humanity’s hierarchy of needs in yet another high-concept EP.

First up, ‘Internet Soulmate’ boasts a crunchy bassline as its drum work chugs along the track playfully. The groove twists and turns before the hypnotic and tribal ‘Supermarket Hunting’ continues with sounds of nature, loopy rhythm and syncopated bleeps.
On the B-side’s ‘Body Control Officer’, human-made grooves intertwine with machine-like thrum, synths whirring and zapping, while ‘Competitive Influencing’ takes off with rolling percussion, subtle whistles and distorted vocal one-shots. Closing out another stellar offering from the Primal Instinct frontman, Chlär brings the dark ‘Scout My Algorithm’, a brooding slow-burner offset by smooth arpeggio snippets and warped slices of digital noise.
