ABSIS, also known as Salva Coromina, has been a regular DJ in the Barcelona scene since the late 90’s under a different alias: MouseDown/MouseUp. He was a resident DJ at The Loft and a regular at Sónar, both in Barcelona, for many years. ABSIS has always been exploring the deepest side of electronic music which varies between ambient and techno. Next to DJ’ing he is also a producer and you are able to find some of his productions on Hivern Discs and Oslated. 

This set by ABSIS is a recording of almost 5 hours where he takes you on a fulfilling journey. He took a deep dive into his electronic library to create something special. The experience of ABSIS is clearly audible through the eclectic choice of tracks and his accurate mixing skills. It is recommended to listen to this set in one take to undergo a unique experience into the unknown.

For MNMT 382 we are very happy to have @tatsuokifukuda, a highly skilled selector hailing from Japan who has been DJing since 2011. A key figure in the Fukuoka techno scene and founder of the Broad event series, where he brings artists from Japan and abroad every other month.

His mix is a deeply psychedelic trip with his own fresh twist on the legendary Japanese techno sound, expect a lot of twisted melodies, textured & pulsating rhythms and plenty of trippy bleeps for good measure.

No. 59 comes from Tom Huthwohl aka BLNDR. Waves and waves of hypnotising sounds.
 
@BLNDR is a French electronic music producer based in Paris.
Deep beats, percussions and atmospheric elements have always played an important role in his music. BLNDR took his first steps in electronic music by releasing his first EP on @Hypnus records in 2014.
Since then he has been collaborating with artists like Luigi Tozzi & AWB and releasing on various labels like @kizenrecords, @nonplus-records or @intervisionparis a label he also runs with his friends DJ Varsovie, Panzer & Paulie Jan. 
In 2022 BLNDR released his new vinyl with his new label @Prosophone. A vinyl label whose goal is to develop his own vision of electronic music and its various forms while presenting a new side project called Traevor and including a remix of Forest Drive West.

Our 11th podcast mix showcases a deep symphony by Noah Lyas. He shared, 'For this mix, I drew inspiration from realizing just how much music I have in various rhythms, to the extent that I've lost track of how to categorize it. It's a rather delightful sensation because it enables me to narrate my story through a DJ set.. This mix revolves around the rhythms that drive me to dance.'" Dive into a fusion of organic, deep, and hypnotic percussion rhythms, crafting a distinctive blend of techno, while exploring atmospheric ambient landscapes and intricate soundscapes within his mix.

Noah Lyas, also known as Malii Yorks, is an Amsterdam based artist who is passionate about two things; making refined ceramic products and composing deep rhythms within the spectrum of techno as a genre. Malii grew up in a house where reggae music often sounded through the speakers in the living room because of two passionate parents who shared a large record collection with their children at an early age. With a musician as a father, there was early contact with different instruments and performing arts. Long days in dusty music studios, live performances and wandering around at festivals as a child were not excluded. Later in life, around the age of twenty, there was a lot of dancing in night clubs with friends who not only shared a love for techno, but also reggae, dub-reggae in particular, and there the discovery of dub-techno came (a fusion of dub-reggae and techno) which also became a starting point for Malii to produce electronic music. With this music in mind, years passed with only creations that never left the studio and the search for a musical identity took quite a while, which was a good thing because more inspiration came along; tribal percussion rhythms and dreamy symphonies that can be found in movies or deep ambient music. All these sources of inspiration are forming the base of all music Malii creates. The first two releases, “Before the Horizon” and “Obsidian”, were the starting point of Noah Lyas as a producer and also the beginning of a record label called “Profundo Collective”.

Monochrome presents, 𝖆𝖚𝖙𝖔𝖒𝖓𝖊 𝖑𝓥 : Cobahn. 

This autumn, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Artist biography :
Cobahn is a Korean-born DJ now based in Amsterdam. She began her musical journey as part of Seoul's deep spiritual techno scene, regularly performing at Vurt and various parties in the city.
Since moving to Amsterdam, Cobahn has continued to explore and expand her musical horizons, drawing inspiration from both Eastern philosophy and the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. Her music is a fusion of deep and experimental styles, which she blends together to create an authentic and immersive soundscape.
With a focus on all kinds of deep music filled with organic, hypnotic, and avant-garde touches, Cobahn seeks to guide listeners into a meditative and ritualistic state of mind. Her unique sound has been described as a journey through the depths of the soul, where each track is a carefully crafted exploration of sound and emotion.
As a rising talent in the techno scene, Cobahn's hypnotic sets have already caught the attention of the scene. With her deeply spiritual approach to music, she is set to become a significant force in the deep techno community.

Podcast #185 is a very special one, coming at you from a dear friend and London’s hugely cherished, Jin Synth.

We adore Jin for her unique musical persona and magical touch in the realms of ambient, meditative, deep and stirring sounds - which this journey captures beautifully. A poignant and emotive trip, the invitation we needed to allow some ease and momentary comfort and calm to return to our hearts.

We know that techno encompasses freedom and unity, openness and connection and is a celebration of the essence of each of us, the beauty of originality, and the power of people unified by shared values and beliefs. Amidst all the pain and suffering in our world, of which we are all feeling immensely in this moment, as we try to make sense of it all - and of ourselves within it - music grounds us. We find meaning, strength and comfort in the rhythms, friends and soulmates at events, respite, refuge, love and light in all that it embodies and represents. It reminds us to look beyond the workings of the mind into the realms of true humanity, unconditional human connection,  possibility, transcendence and hope, strengthening our connection to our own truth and therefore the truth mirrored back to us by all others, if we open our hearts and minds to where it points us to.

Jin’s mix has been a much-needed reminder of the power of music and we’re honoured that this journey becomes a part of our story too.

Jin will be on opening duties at at our gathering this coming Friday the 3rd of November, bringing her ethereal and mythical sounds to The Pickle Factory.

Danza Nativa Invites 019 - ALPI

MNMT recordings presents Jin Synth recorded live at Mostra 2023.

Jin Synth played on the third day of Mostra 23 at the iconic landmark of Castell de Montjuïc in Barcelona, one of the venues of Mostra festival. The Catalan festival will take place in its third edition from 28 to 31 March in 2024.  

About her time at Mostra Jin Synth said:

"Mostra was an absolutely beautiful music festival. It was my first time visiting Barcelona. Meeting incredible artists and warmy friends was the best part of the experience. These four days were a revelry and the stunning beauty of Castell de Montjuïc was a sight to behold. The event left a nice impression on everyone’s heart. I believe the memories created there will last!"
