In a corner of our planet untouched by civilization, under the thick canopy of an ancient forest, lies a hidden world teeming with life. Amidst the foliage and sunlight, thrives a colony of geckos unlike any other.

These agile creatures are feared throughout the forest. With precision and coordination, they stalk their prey, darting between branches and leaves in a graceful ballet of survival.

Yet, it is as dusk falls on the night of the full moon that the true essence of this gecko society is revealed. As the first stars punctuate the twilight, the geckos gather in a sacred clearing. Here, the air is filled with a palpable sense of anticipation. 


The drumming begins.

The improvised beats resonate through the forest, drawing more geckos into the circle. Tails swaying in time with the rhythm, they begin to dance. It’s a spectacle of intricate movements and synchronized steps, each gecko contributing to the collective rhythm, a living testament to their unity and harmony.

As the night deepens, the chirps and clicks of their musical conversations fill the air. These are no ordinary sounds; they are stories, passed down through generations. Tales of their ancestors’ struggles and triumphs, of deities who once roamed these woods, and of epic journeys undertaken in search of new territories. Each call carries a fragment of their rich heritage, binding the diasporas together in a shared cultural tapestry.


Under the watchful eyes of the ancient trees and the shimmering stars, the geckos’ gatherings are more than mere social events; they are a celebration of life, a testament to the power of community, and a living chronicle of their existence.

The B-side Island After Dark is a 128 bpm Acid Jam with crisp UKG percussion. It's the soundtrack to a scene of a island beach at night on a winter evening. The only light illuminating the sand is the skyglow from distant cities in the horizon. The ocean breeze is biting but that does not stop passerby from taking a moment to reflect upon the serenity of the roar of the waves.

The green hue of this particular gas-discharge lamp adds an entrancing otherworldly glow to the street that it illuminates. The layers of swooping pads and the rich lead synth paint an illusory landscape. This transforms into a heavy groove with the introduction of the sub and breakbeat. 

Monolithic’s long-time collaborator Computer Data (San Francisco) has transformed the original motifs into a slick acid belter with warm chord pads and flowing lead synth melodies. The sustained basslines are sure to throw home listeners and clubgoers into a trance.
