The Ambient/Electronic transmission channel of guitarist and producer Roland Reinke, "encym" explores un-guitaristic territory by layering, collaging and shaping improvised loops. 
This piece draws inspiration from two contrasting environments. The first is the my recent concerts in Japan, which prompted me to revisit a Logic project containing ambient set rehearsals prepared for this year’s performances. Among various sonic experiments—many of them focused on noise and pedal-based textures—I rediscovered a sparse, unembellished guitar composition. It reflects my own musical roots and cultural legacy: guitar playing in its most elemental form.
To ground the piece in a specific place and time, I layered it with a slowed-down field recording captured on the Osaka subway, creating a deep, immersive atmosphere. The result is a meditation on space and memory—anchored both in the familiarity of home and the surreal experience of being elsewhere.

I use Logic, especially with Arturia’s V collection as my go to software synth and recording experience. My first step was to create a pleasant, if rather banal, arrangement with an arpeggiator preset on the CS-80 emulation, accompanied by an ambient wash thanks to Arturia’s “voices” engine. Then I messed with the buses, sending inputs to inputs, outputs to outputs and creating such a horrible feedback loop that I almost blew out my headphones. The resultant cacophony was not really listenable, even if imagine as belonging to the genre of noise music. It was mess of distorted glitches, high pitched wailing and intermittent period of silence when my processor simply decided that it had enough.  To tame the mess, I imported the file into a new Logic session, massaged it vigorously with granular and time stretching effects, with a bit of panning and considerable volume control. The result, I think, can now be listened to without incurring ear damage.

This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0702: Chain of Applications. The Assignment: Make music by misusing a piece of music software. This project is the second of three that are being done by the Disquiet Junto in collaboration with the 2025 Musikfestival Bern, which will be held in Switzerland from September 3 through 7.

I rarely use the metronome in Ableton Live, even when recording on top of a rhythm. Maybe it’s the lack of experience with it but I find the sound too distracting. For this project, decided to not use the metronome as a rhythm aid but as a sound source to be sampled and manipulated into an experimental composition.

First, recorded the sound with a Panasonic microcassette recorder. I then recorded it back into Ableton Live. The output connection on the recorder was picking up some static and noise but used the recording anyway, From there I used Audio Damage Circa to loop and mangle the audio. Used Imagiro Autochrome, SoundGhost Jumble and ValhallaRoom for effects. The result reminds me of a chorus of frogs, insects and other creatures in some wetland at night.

So i decided to use my browser i use dozens of times a day and for turning what the web has to offer into music i gave SORA (ChatGPT image AI) this prompt: "i want to synthesize image content into a soundscape so i need some original spectral image to  load into visualans"
images i got which i loaded into PaintShop Pro i often use for my photographic work (Olympus E 520 and Nikon D3500) to crop, resize and sharpen softly
These resulting images were loaded in to WarmPlace.ru 'VisualANS' image resynthesis and exported to .WAV i could arrange in Ableton. Some of those sample material was chopped and arranged into beats to top two layers of retroish, oldschool, early era of electronic music sound layers.

I picked a book at random from a cardboard box filled with souvenirs from my years in Argentina. When I moved to Europe, I brought most of my belongings with me — but some heavier items (mostly old books, cassettes, and vinyl records) stayed behind. I'm gradually bringing those things — and memories — back.

The first book from that pile:
*Cuentos de dos orillas* (1971 edition)
I remember most of the short stories in it — I read them decades ago (at least 35 years). The one I truly love is the story by Borges.

For the music, I used an unused 2023 recording with Santiago Arias on bandoneon (I play bowed upright bass and Fender Rhodes). I added some synths to create an abstract soundscape.

This is the passage I read:
