Emerging from the ever fertile music scene of Bristol, UK, rising electronic producer Stumbleine has already built a sizeable following with several self-released EPs and a recent compilation album, in addition to collaborative outings with fellow producer http://soundcloud.com/asaofficialmusic. He also reports for active duty as one third of dubstep envelope pushers http://soundcloud.com/swarms, whose music has found favour among tastemaker DJs such as Mary Anne Hobbs.

On Spiderwebbed, his enrapturing, genre transcending debut album proper; Stumbleine beautifully showcases the multifaceted nature of his music, seamlessly weaving fractured beats, synths, hazy distorted guitars and soulful vocals, to create glowing, expansive sonic vistas.

In keeping with the album’s title, the music hangs gossamer like, a delicate suspension of sound; beautifully anchored to an array of solid syncopated beats.

Combining elements of electronica, post-rock and alternative rock with subtle progressive undertones, UK band Midas Fall have spent three years carving a distinctive and captivating sound, creating taut, shimmering soundscapes led by the hauntingly melancholic vocals of Elizabeth Heaton.

Their worldwide debut release on Monotreme in 2010, Eleven. Return and Revert, garnered glowing reviews across Europe and beyond, singling the band out as one to watch.

Live supports with Japanese post-rockers Mono, We Were Promised Jetpacks and label-mates 65daysofstatic and Jeniferever, alongside their own headline tours and appearances at festivals including Belgium's Dunk! and Germany's Dark Spring have significantly bolstered the band's fanbase.

Additionally, a synch for their track MovieScreens on BBC3's Lip Service TV series - which has since been released in South America, Canada and Australia - increased the band’s following both at home and overseas.

Their second album, Wilderness, sees the band maturing their sound beautifully, delivering on the promise referenced in their previous reviews. 

Equally accomplished at tender balladry (Borders, Tiny Pieces Will Always Remain) or driving guitar crescendos (BPD, Carnival Song), Midas Fall demonstrate not only their powerful songcraft and musicianship, but also their outstanding production skills – the album was self-recorded, mixed and mastered from home on a minimal budget but sounds like the product of professional recording studio.

In November 2012 the band was invited to record a radio Session for BBC Introducing Lancashire, which aired on the 8th of November.

Niagara is the collaborative project of Turin-based singers/producers David Tomat (TOMAT / N.A.M.B./ GEMINI EXCERPT) and Gabriele Ottino (N.A.M.B. / Milena Lovesick / GEMINI EXCERPT), who like to take a less conventional approach to composition. Much of their music is developed by continuous experimentation with sounds during improvised sessions, in which vocals are often used as just another instrumental layer. However, they also have a great ear for a killer pop tune and the vocal chops to deliver it.

On ‘Otto’, their debut album, Niagara blend together a heady mixture of experimental pop, electronica and psychedelia to create their own brand of ‘avant-psych-tronica’.

The first single, ‘Seal’, is a joyously off-kilter mandolin-fueled pop paean to summer, with an uplifting chorus filled with handclaps, sweet west-coast harmonies and humourously surreal lyrics.

‘Watershipdown’ recalls the trippier, spacier synth-fuelled explorations of The Flaming Lips, with a driving beat, drones and chopped vocal samples.

Etacarinea tears a page from the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ era Beatles book with its bouncy brass band and synths, gradually morphing into a distorted but controlled psychedelic wig-out.

Galaxy Glacier is a pummeling slab of experimental improvisation fuelled by noisy synths, live drums and vocals used as an additional instrument.

It all ends with the whimsical ‘Love Me Love Me’ skipping lightly through a garden of syncopated percussion.

The album was recorded by Niagara and mixed by G.U.P. Alcaro at Superbudda Studio in Turin and mastered by Francesco Donandello at Calyx Mastering Studio in Berlin.

Niagara have also released a self-titled 4-track digital ep in February 2012.

‘Dreamstone’ is the debut long-player from the highly talented UK producer Sorrow.

Sorrow’s electronic, beats-driven music floats above the furthest reaches of Ambient Dubstep, propelled aloft by a dubbed out, sonorous Garage hybrid of his own invention.  

A series of self-released tracks, remixes and EPs over the last two years, as well as collaborations with other artists (including Stumbleine, Asa and Submerse) have rapidly earned him a profile as one of the UK’s rising producers. 

True to his moniker, Sorrow’s music has an underlying current of melancholy, with mournful strings and piano and ghostly vocals, but he balances the mood artfully with head-bobbing beats and a wonky sense of humour that emerges unexpectedly here and there. 

In ‘Dreamstone’, the lush strings and languid zig-zag beats of ‘Embrace’ flow into the Bossa Nova lounge of ‘Maelys’, which in turn yields to the darker, more experimental tones of ‘Supernova’. 

From the chilled out ambience of ‘Dalliance’, featuring the sultry guest vocals of CoMa, to the  restless, more aggressive beats of ‘Intruder’, ‘Dreamstone’ works equally well for late night sonic explorations or laid-back Sunday mornings.

About 'To Live Alone In That Long Summer':

Canadian songwriter Barzin will release his fourth full-length album, To Live Alone In That Long Summer, on February 24th, 2014 on Monotreme Records. His past work has won acclaim from NPR Music “Song of The Day”, Salon.com, Stereogum, Uncut, Exclaim!, and La Blogotheque among others. 'To Live Alone...'  follows his well-received 2009 album 'Notes To An Absent Lover', praised by Mojo Magazine as 'Americana Album of The Month'.

In the not insignificant stretch of time since his last release, Barzin has pursued projects outside his own songwriting, including assisting in producing his compatriots Memoryhouse’s recent album, 'The Slideshow Effec't (Subpop Records). He has also written a book of poems entitled, 'Something I Have Not Done Is Following Me.'

When he began work on To Live Alone... 3 years ago, Barzin originally envisioned a stripped down affair, but has since traveled in a different direction. While still embracing a relatively minimalist aesthetic, songs that alternate between up and down-tempo are replete with arrangements that envelope the listener like the warm glow of fading daylight. “All the While”, one of the highlights of the album, is at once both elegiac and hopeful, with its bright guitar and brisk tempo underpinned by mournful strings and Barzin’s soft, melancholy vocals. The dark, percussive “In The Dark You Can Love This Place” lends an exotic nocturnal feel with its winding woodwinds. Another standout track, “Fake It ‘til You Make It, is a lush, sweeping cinematic pop number.

To Live Alone In That Long Summer explores such themes as loneliness, intimacy, and connection between strangers. Modern life provides the backdrop to the narrative that run along these songs. Everywhere you look, the city, with its distractions, is present. Fast cars and cheap thrills make an appearance. Dylan sings on the radio while lovers dream of their great escape. Modern life hurries along taking everyone with it, and Barzin goes along for the ride, documenting everything along the way. At the core of the album lies the yearning to become whole again, and to regain the ability to experience genuine intimacy with another human being in the fast paced environment of the city.

The new album features some of Canada’s finest musicians. Nick Zubeck lends a hand as a producer. Tony Dekker (Great Lake Swimmers), Daniela Gesendheit (Snowblink) and Tamara Lindeman (Weather Station) provide backing vocals on several tracks. Sandro Perri comes in as a music consultant and offers advice on the arrangement of the songs. Karen Graves (Hayden) returns with understated string arrangements and the help received from an additional cast of stellar musicians results in Barzin’s strongest record to date. “I feel I’ve been trying to create this album since I began making records,” says Barzin.

The duo have been hard at work in the studio, crafting a collection of songs that fuse the dreamy, shoegazy atmosphere and beats for which Stumbleine (aka Peter Cooper) is beloved by many, with a more classic pop sensibility, framed in the soulful vocals of Violet Skies.
 
The result is a welcome progression of the pop genre, with nods to the pop music of the 60’s (including a modern update of the Phil Spector classic ‘And Then He Kissed Me’), 80’s shoegaze artists like The Cocteau Twins’, post-dubstep and R’N’B, with songs that drift serenely between heartache and ecstasy. “Shoegaze had a big impact on me – Kevin Shields is one of my favourite producers”, says Peter. “I’m also really inspired by Phil Spector, I love his dedication to finding the ‘perfect’ pop track.”
 
 The music still retains the trademark lush production that Stumbleine is noted for, with strong melody lines and compelling lyrics penned by Violet Skies.
 
With Violet now involved in the songwriting, the likes of ‘Clip My Wings’ and ‘Just Tell Me’ sparkle and smoulder. Peter admits she’s given Stumbleine a face and stamped his music with her personality. “She makes the music stand out and has opened the door to a wider audience,” he says. 

The collaboration has been so productive that a full-length follow-up album is scheduled for release in April 2014. “These five tracks give a good indication of what’s to come – I’ve got more aces lined up for the album. I’ve pushed myself much harder over the past year to create something a bit different”, says Peter.

With ‘Chasing Honeybees’, Peter has added Violet’s vitality to the dreamy essence of Stumbleine and the results are breathtaking.

Violet Skies has recently launched her own solo career, with the recent debut of her first track “How The Mighty” on popular music site The 405.

sleepmakeswaves' 2008 debut in today already walks tomorrow was the first glimpse of the Australian band on the global stage. Indeed, the viral success of lead track one day you will teach me to let go of my fears made such an impact that it catapulted the band to the top end of The Silent Ballet’s 2008 end-of-year list, clocked over 50,000 downloads and earned them a loyal following around the world. Such a reaction for a band only newly minted in their homeland suggested something special about their approach – with music so immediately evocative that it speaks to people on a universal level.

sleepmakeswaves’ dramatic and sumptuous approach to their craft is brilliantly showcased on this diverse record, which blends powerful, dynamic guitars and strings with impeccably constructed electronics. Last year the band's 2011 ARIA Award-nominated full-length debut album And So We Destroyed Everything was also re-issued by Monotreme Records in deluxe 2-CD and 2LP editions, and we are proud to be bringing more of sleepmakeswaves’ fantastic music to a wider audience.

The band’s current lineup of guitarist Jonathan Khor, guitarist Otto Wicks-Green, drummer Tim Adderley and bassist Alex Wilson have spent the better part of the past 3 years touring the world, including performances at SXSW, Dunk! Festival and touring alongside bands such as Karnivool, Boris, 65daysofstatic, Tortoise and more. They have earned a devoted following around the world, for their innovative and expansive music, coupled with an electrifying live show that has seen them sell out venues across their homeland. Recently, Kat Morris, the director of Europe’s leading festival for new music, ‘The Great Escape’, included sleepmakeswaves in her ‘top 5 Australian bands’ list.

Following the release of their debut collaborative EP, Chasing Honeybees, in February, UK producer Stumbleine  (aka Peter Cooper) and vocalist/songwriter Violet Skies deliver their first full-length album, Dissolver.

In it, the duo continues to explore the fusion of Stumbleine’s electronic beats and dreamy, shoegaze guitars with Violet Skies’ soulful pop / R’NB vocals. 

From the slow-burning soul of opener Thunderdome through the catchy melodic pop of Sunset Boulevard and Heroine, the propulsive R’NB of Her Touch and Whirlpool and the swirling shoegaze-infused balladry of One Step Closer and Sleeping Through The Day, Dissolver delivers a welcome progression to the pop genre that seamlessly blends classic pop sensibilities with modern R’NB, contemporary electronica and 80’s shoegaze indie.
 
 The music still retains the trademark lush production that Stumbleine is noted for, with strong melody lines and compelling lyrics penned by Violet Skies.
 
With Violet now involved in the songwriting, Peter affirms that she’s given Stumbleine a face and stamped his music with her personality. “She makes the music stand out and has opened the door to a wider audience,” he says, “I’ve pushed myself much harder over the past year to create something a bit different”,

With Dissolver, Peter has added Violet’s vitality to the dreamy essence of Stumbleine and the results are breathtaking.

Violet Skies has recently launched her own solo career, with the recent debut of her first track “How The Mighty”.

Emerging from the ever fertile music scene of Bristol, UK, rising electronic producer Stumbleine has already built a sizeable following with several self-released EPs and a recent compilation album, in addition to collaborative outings with fellow producer ASA. He also reports for active duty as one third of dubstep envelope pushers Swarms, whose music has found favour among tastemaker DJs such as Mary Anne Hobbs.

On Spiderwebbed, his enrapturing, genre transcending debut album proper; Stumbleine beautifully showcases the multifaceted nature of his music, seamlessly weaving fractured beats, synths, hazy distorted guitars and soulful vocals, to create glowing, expansive sonic vistas.

In keeping with the album’s title, the music hangs gossamer like, a delicate suspension of sound; beautifully anchored to an array of solid syncopated beats.

Guest vocalists CoMa and Steffaloo contribute their ample talents to the dreamy ‘The Beat My Heart Skips’ and a cover of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’, and Birds of Passage lend warmth and poignancy to Catherine Wheel.

Niagara is the collaborative project of Turin-based singers/producers David Tomat (TOMAT / N.A.M.B./ GEMINI EXCERPT) and Gabriele Ottino (N.A.M.B. / Milena Lovesick / GEMINI EXCERPT), who like to take a less conventional approach to composition. Much of their music is developed by continuous experimentation with sounds during improvised sessions, in which vocals are often used as just another instrumental layer. However, they also have a great ear for a killer pop tune and the vocal chops to deliver it.

On ‘Otto’, their debut album, Niagara blend together a heady mixture of experimental pop, electronica and psychedelia to create their own brand of ‘avant-psych-tronica’. 

The first single, ‘Seal’, is a joyously off-kilter mandolin-fueled pop paean to summer, with an uplifting chorus filled with handclaps, sweet west-coast harmonies and humourously surreal lyrics.

‘Watershipdown’ recalls the trippier, spacier synth-fuelled explorations of The Flaming Lips, with a driving beat, drones and chopped vocal samples.

Etacarinea tears a page from the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ era Beatles book with its bouncy brass band and synths, gradually morphing into a distorted but controlled psychedelic wig-out.

Galaxy Glacier is a pummeling slab of experimental improvisation fuelled by noisy synths, live drums and vocals used as an additional instrument.

It all ends with the whimsical ‘Love Me Love Me’ skipping lightly through a garden of syncopated percussion. 

The album was recorded by Niagara and mixed by G.U.P. Alcaro at Superbudda Studio in Turin and mastered by Francesco Donandello at Calyx Mastering Studio in Berlin.

Niagara have also released a self-titled 4-track digital ep in February 2012.

Combining elements of electronica, post-rock and alternative rock with subtle progressive undertones, Midas Fall have spent three years carving a distinctive and captivating sound, creating taut, shimmering soundscapes led by the hauntingly melancholic vocals of Elizabeth Heaton.

Their worldwide debut release on Monotreme in 2010, Eleven. Return and Revert, garnered glowing reviews across Europe and beyond, singling the band out as one to watch.

Live supports with Japanese post-rockers Mono, We Were Promised Jetpacks and label-mates 65daysofstatic and Jeniferever, alongside their own headline tours and appearances at festivals including Belgium's Dunk! and Germany's Dark Spring have significantly bolstered the band's fanbase.

Additionally, a synch for their track MovieScreens on BBC3's Lip Service TV series - which has since been released in South America, Canada and Australia - increased the band’s following both at home and overseas.

Their second album, Wilderness, sees the band maturing their sound beautifully, delivering on the promise referenced in their previous reviews. 

Equally accomplished at tender balladry (Borders, Tiny Pieces Will Always Remain) or driving guitar crescendos (BPD, Carnival Song), Midas Fall demonstrate not only their powerful songcraft and musicianship, but also their outstanding production skills – the album was self-recorded, mixed and mastered from home on a minimal budget but sounds like the product of a much more high-end studio.

In November 2012 the band was invited to record a radio Session for BBC Introducing Lancashire, which aired on the 8th of November.
