In our lives, we are granted the opportunity to witness the departure of our loved ones. Some depart through doors, never to return, yet still exist somewhere. Others leave suddenly, unexpectedly. Yet some depart when we are somewhat prepared, for their age predisposes them to it. However, there are also departures more challenging... when we observe the tree of the mind of a beloved, from which memories' leaves fall, and even the freshest, youngest cannot hold on to it. We cannot help, we can only watch how they fall...

Composing this little piece was very personal. It was combined with the realization of a fact from my immediate surroundings. I left all imperfections of my playing because of how I felt at that moment. It wasn't an improvisation, it was an interpretation of a theme that I've developed few minutes earlier.

The first song "Oriental Mist" co-written with Chat GPT. The oriental impression is not so strong. Since it is "Mist," the overall sound is a muffled one. I changed the bass from the root to the proposed chord, and added some other notes on the piano to make it sound as mysterious and fuzzy as possible.

I've long been a fan of Jonathan And Wheelwright,
but as much as I wanted to collaborate with them over the years,
I didn't have the right track that I felt was in their style.
Instead of forcing a collaboration to happen,
randomly I was listening to this unfinished track
that I couldn't stop imagining Wheelwright singing on.
So I approached him with the idea of collaborating.
It may have been somewhat unexpected, given that the original track I sent him
was a stripped down synth pop song.
I assured him that it was just a simple guide for his vocal,
the chord progression would essentially be the same,
but the final track would sound nothing like what he was hearing.
I didn't know myself what it would sound like, I just knew it wasn't that.
On that note, when I hear Wheelwright I also think of his work with Jonathan Beckenstein.
I have talked with Jonathan in the past about collaborating,
but nothing I was working on then was a good fit at the time.
Since I had this track that I felt was complimentary to Wheelwright's voice,
I thought about Jonathan who has a sound that is quite complimentary to his voice as well.
Perfect I thought, I've been wanting to work with both of these guys I greatly admired,
why not all of us together on the same track?

Thank you both for your efforts to help me bring this 'vision' together.
It really wouldn't work without you guys...

I'm in the process of renovating/updating various aspects of my studio, adding new hardware/software. New music on the way.

I'm a believer in true social interaction on SC, having intelligent dialogue with artists, and giving personal feedback that is (hopefully) more inspired than "Nice."  There are a lot of decent artists here not attempting to "go viral", sharing great music that deserves to be heard and not drowned out by bots.  Encouragement/criticism promotes growth, so say something worth something.
