Ibizan Valentin Huedo makes his debut with perhaps the most emotional track that has ever appeared on the Berlin label. In addition to his weekly radio show on IBIZA SONICA, musical talent Huedo has made a name for himself as resident of the legendary Woomoon Parties. When label boss Ante Perry met him last year, the two immediately understood each other personally and musically. The Mirror knocked Ante away the first time it was heard! The beautiful voice of Bird, lyrics and arrangement create an incomparable atmosphere. In order to give the EP that be an ape-typical thump, Ante asked his longtime residents Flo Mrzdk & Monotunes for a driving version. Magico!

Monotunes sind die beiden Musikbegeisterten Nils und Phil aus Dortmund, die nun seit mehr als einem Jahr zusammen produzieren und auflegen. Trotz unterschiedlicher musikalischer Wurzeln hat bei Monotunes zusammengefunden, was zusammen gehört. Der eine als langjähriger Hip Hop-DJ, der andere bereits fest der elektronischen Musik verschrieben, fingen die Beiden an gemeinsam aufzulegen. Es folgten die Residency bei Tabula Rasa in Dortmund und die Release Premiere ihrer EP „Bazille“bei „be an ape“.

Mit ihrem neusten Podcast läuten Monotunes den musikalischen Frühling ein und servieren uns mit „Spring“ ein herrlich harmonisches Set für den heutigen Sonntag. Viel Spaß damit!

Monotunes? Das sind doch die zwei „Be an ape“ Jungs mit diesem treibenden, tiefgehenden Sound. Keine zwei Jahre ist das DJ Duo in dieser Besetzung alt und doch ist seine musikalische Sprache bereits laut und deutlich. Angefangen hat die Geschichte mit keinem geringeren Event als der Aftershow des Pollerwiesen Festivals im Jahr 2015 wo Dortmunder HipHop-Urgestein Nils ziemlich unverhofft seinen ersten elektronischen Gig spielen sollte. Klar, dass Soulmate Philo mit viel Bier noch mehr Erfahrung und unendlich viel Bock an seiner Seite stand. Ein fettes Set und eine Tanzfläche voller begeisterter Menschen später waren die Monotunes 2.0 geboren. Seit dem arbeiten die Jungs akribisch an ihrem Sound. Produzieren Podcasts, Mixtapes und Songs – mal zu zweit, mal mit Unterstützung aus ihrem großen musikalischen Netzwerk und nutzen dabei jede freie Sekunde, die sie nicht mit Job oder Familie verbringen. Technik-Junkie Nils liefert mit seiner Leidenschaft für immer neue Hardware dabei das Werkzeug, das zusammen mit Philos langjähriger Erfahrung und Kreativität die perfekte Grundlage für den Monotunes-Sound darstellt. Als Residents drücken sie außerdem der ‚Tabula Rasa’ Reihe regelmäßig ihren musikalischen Stempel auf. Verständlich, dass Label-Chef Ante Perry sich die beiden Talente ohne zu zögern für Be an ape sicherte. Mit den EPs Bazille und Perception schlugen die ersten beiden Releases schon mal kräftig ein – kein geringerer als Pete Tong prämierte den Track „Delacroix“ in seiner Kultsendung auf BBC Radio 1. Bald dürfte das Fragezeichen dann auch international verschwunden sein – dann heißt es nur noch Monotunes Ausrufezeichen.

The smoke from the fire works has settled and with big eyes we look to all the possibilities the new year brings. Heinz Music already set the tone, starting the year with their striking 102st release.

Keeping up the pace, they are welcoming back label friend and talented artist Marius Drescher who, together with the up and coming duo Monotunes, has made a 3-track EP ready for the big dance floors. "Surrender" is the first track of the release; a subtle vocal element is immersed between a beautiful synth melody and on point percussive work that gives the track a driving energy underlying the dreamy feel of the synth.

This great collaboration has resulted in a magnificent EP, and the guys are ready to take the Heinz Music fans on a proper dance floor journey.
