SCAR return to the label for the first time since the release of their debut album, ‘The Orkyd Project’, with a 4 track EP entitled ‘The Wrong Side’ which without doubt highlights some of the duos best work yet.

Naomi Pryor, whose voice featured strongly across the album, takes the lead on the title track with some haunting but playful vocals, whilst SCAR have also invited the legendary 2 Bad Mice to put their own unique stamp on ‘The Wrong Side’.

‘Make Em Know’ shows further versatility in SCAR’s work and is guaranteed to be favourite on the dancefloor in the years to come. Rounding off the EP is ‘Beside Me’ with another vocalist you may remember from ‘The Orkyd Project’ – Eleanor Higgins. Alongside her wonderful voice is Ben Hadwen on saxophone and flute duties, bubbling over to create one of the jazziest pieces of drum and bass you’re likely to hear in a while.

After thirteen years and over ninety releases, Med School has stacked the chairs and closed its doors. As a final farewell to the label, the ‘Med School: Graduation’ compilation celebrates the life of Hospital Records’ once sister label, as well as the musicians and culture that defined it, with 23 brand new tracks from label stalwarts such as Bop, Keeno, Etherwood and Whiney as well as the new blood that was always so important to the label’s experimental output.

In Med School fashion, the album brings together a myriad of drum & bass stylings and beyond. From the microfunk movements of Bop to Illexandra’s warped emergency warnings, Lakeway’s upfront grime beats to the unique electronic musings of Frederic Robinson, A.Fruit and Kimyan Law.

Representing the serene side of Med School is Etherwood’s ‘Nowhere To Go But Everywhere’, alongside beautiful contributions from Keeno, Natus and Polaris. The tribal infusions of Royalston’s stepper ‘Mark’s Shibari Groove’ and Lung’s techno-fused rabbit hole ‘Stop Crying’ switch up the pace to reflect the breadth of Med School’s outputs. The compilation also calls back to the very beginnings of the label with a special VIP treatment of S.P.Y’s first release in the Hospital camp, MEDIC1 ‘Black Flag’.

Whiney not only brings in his deep new stepper ‘Close To You’ but is also the man behind the continuous mix on the album, seamlessly bringing together all 23 tracks for one final salute to Med School Music.

Subdue, one of the UK's finest rising talents, has returned to Riddim Records with some his most elegant work to date. With his unique and stylistic approach to Drum & Bass, 'Dusk', a new four track EP, perpetuates the sound that we at Riddim hold so dear, fusing tech-y rollers, glitchy beats, deep atmospherics and newfangled vocals.

The title track, 'Dusk', is our first stop: progressive euphoria with both incredible warmth and a delicate sound. Deep bass and hypnotic drums bring the vibes.

'When I'm Alone' hangs a sharp left into a dark and tech-y roller with seriously eerie undertones. Subdue goes even deeper with the glitchy 'Reality'. A murky stepper that combines a raunchy lead synth and powerful sub. 

Finally, 'Afraid of You' is the warm glow ending the tunnel, featuring the rich vocals of ES. Kay, one of Riddim's newest signings. A signature ballad to take us home.

It's been nearly a year since Subdue's last Riddim Records feature 'Who Am I' on our VA album in early 2020. He's now returned home, and what a return it is.
