An experience of any of Salah’s magical sets is one that remains with you for days, weeks and months. It’s from within his passionate soul that this talented and well-exposed DJ reaches out, with a style of music that spans deep - house - groovy - electronica - techno - acid - disco - dub - abstract beats and pieces that GET UNDER YOUR SKIN; a truly experienced versatile diverse style that never fails to infect the listener with a dirty groove.

Born and raised in Bahrain he developed his skills from the very young age of 14, spinning at the infamous “Tameem” night club, varied underground gigs, which led to him becoming the weekend resident dj at “Likwid” Bahrain (starting 1999) which developed to running his own nights and brands on the island and in the region. Gradually building a repertoire that crosses continents.

Close to home, he has played alongside a number of big artists in Dubai (U.A.E.), including Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Ripperton, Robag Wruhme, Satoshi Tomiie, Mathew Jonson, Desyn Masiello, D’julz, Daniel Stefanik, Clive Henry, Francesca Lombardo, Seamus Haji, Jef K, DJ T, Solomun, Ame, Luke Solomon, Matthew Burton, Peace Division and Lexicon Avenue, to name a few. His adventures also take him to Canada, France, Germany, Lebanon, Georgia and Holland. In Holland he has performed in regular events including Amsterdam Dance Event, FreeFestival - The Orginals 2012, the Queen’s Day Street and Playground parties (2004 + 2005), TWSTD, Supper Club, Studio 80, Sugar Factory, Club Air and Club More in Amsterdam. In addition at special one offs in Paris (Silver Network Anniversary @ Showcase), The Woods Brussels and a regular in the Beirut underground scene.

In the regional scene, Salah has been found teaming up with world-class DJs at various venues in Bahrain, Beirut, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is the brains and talent behind the successful Techfui residency, that ran for over four years inviting DJs, both local and international, including the likes of Peace Division, Ame, Mazi, Richard Parker and more. The brand lives on with his sets, collaborations and the label and artist roster launching this year.

Now based in Dubai, Salah is a regular at leading venues and nights. Salah is only starting to spread his musical vibe and creations in the region with still more in the works, both in the DJ booth and the studio with the release of his first EP aptly titled "Techfui" on Gold Drama Recordings featuring Jef K, Salar Ansari, Hoolz and Mi.Key in 2014. This newborn focus on releasing his own music in 2013 kicked started by the winning remix for Yousef - Italo Sleeze (Salah + Hoolz Mix) - Circus Recordings released on July 22nd 2013. Definitely inspired 2014 also brought the release of his second EP "Paris with a K" on One28 Recordings with remixes from Jef K and Ronin & Nesta.

Behind and involved in such entities / brands as "AndCo.", "Techfui", “Half Baked”, "The Crate" and 'Stereotype" he obviously has no plans to slow down any time soon.

His label Techfui introduces their first release to the scene summer of 2015 with a mix of fresh and established talents lined up through the year from around the globe in a vinyl first format.

Marko Smokingroove - Live @ SG1 Studio

I recorded this at one of my many DJ sets at W Dubai The Palm on the Wet Deck. It was 42c and the humidity was at 63% but i wasn't about to stop playing because of a little old thing like heat. 

No, seriously, it was really f***ing hot. Even my personal AC unit wasn't cutting it at that point.

There's no tracklisting as i never plan what i'm going to play but this recording was just about the entire DJ set and felt right at the time.

Smokingroove Recorded Live @ WET DECK, DUBAI - 05.09.20

Smokingroove, originally comprising of brothers Monsafe & Marko, cut their teeth on the mid 90s London underground pirate radio scene at legendary stations including Freek FM, Unknown, House FM and quickly built a name for themselves on dancefloors across the city with their own brand of bumping Chicago-fused house music.

As two wise chemically-enhanced men once said, ‘The brothers gonna work it out’ and it’s an adage that the two took to heart as they became one of the most in-demand production and DJ duos around. With over 160 releases over the last two decades, they’ve proven their ability to maintain a position in the international DJ scene.

When Marko moved to Dubai in 2007, Monsafe carried on playing across Europe while Marko solidified a new base in the Middle East with the launch of a then-new 5000 capacity venue that could be seen from Space named ‘Nasimi beach’ at the Atlantis hotel on the Palm.

Not only did they turn a once unremarkable patch of sand into a consistently sold-out clubbing location thanks to a sound-storm of beats and bass, they were instrumental in musically setting up all the 16,000+ capacity Sandance events and played alongside (and often closed for) Faithless, Florence & the machine, Jamiroquai, David Guetta, Avicii, Fatboy Slim, Chic, Frankie Knuckles, Steve Lawler, Roger Sanchez, Derrick Carter, Armand Van-Helden, Basement Jaxx and many, many more.

Smokingroove have since won just about every award in the region and have become a name representing great music on a global scale.

Alongside that, Smokingroove opened at the recent 'Unite with Tomorrowland', had multiple appearances at Creamfields, toured Europe and have built up a long-standing reputation for great underground music.

In 2018 Smokingroove became the Music Curator for the popular global brand, W Hotel with a new location on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The weekly radio show is currently syndicated to over 40 radio stations around the world with a weekly listenership in over 60 countries and sees the duo going back to their roots, making people dance around the world to their own flavour of what’s hot in the underground House music scene.
