There's a lot of pressure for people to adhere to Valentine's Day traditions for teens who are not involved in romantic relationships. It can be extra difficult for those who are people of color and children of immigrants. Conversations about dating, power dynamics, and expectations of girls can influence perceptions of romantic relationships. 

This year, we are celebrating the love we have for ourselves and for the people in our life.

The Power of Vulnerability: Mental Health in Asian American Men

Bouaphakeo is also a life coach, former Division 1 collegiate athlete, founder of Des Moines Derby Dames, LGBTQ+, and mother of five kids. Former collegiate gymnast and second-generation Asian American, Kara Lovan, won three NCAA Women's Gymnastics National Championships and four Big-12 Conference Championships at the University of Oklahoma from 2013 to 2017.
