The premise for this one is a bit different than your typical Heartache replacement, and is another remnant from the things we came up with YEARS ago.

Rather than a fight against Alphys because she wants you to stay and keep her company or whatever, Frisk wanders off on their own as Alphys leaves her house for a moment because she had business to attend to elsewhere. This leads them into the basement where the Amalgamates linger and wait for Alphys to come and feed them. Eventually, they are cornered and have nowhere to turn to.

From Alphys' point of view, you see her rushing back because she forgot to warn Frisk not to go down the basement, but realizes she's too late. When she find her way down the end of the basement, she sees Frisk cornered and struggling to escape from the Amalgamates' grip. Normally some snacks would do the trick, but that doesn't seem to be enough right now. This triggers a "fight" sequence handled from Alphys' point of view.

One of Gaster's Followers replaces Napstablook, and simultaneously serve as a tutorial for multi-party-member battles. After the tragic demise of Dr. Gaster and Dr. Alphys quit, this Follower moved its way to the Ruins where it would try and convince Alphys to return to the lab some day, if only to carry on Dr. Gaster's legacy.

The Follower, who sees TWO humans, realizes they have an opportunity to contribute to science and aims to extract the two human SOULs to offer to Alphys, unaware that that's the LAST thing Alphys wants at this point.

Asriel and Flowey interact a bit more like siblings -- if you took parents out of the equation. The two of them are always looking out for each other one way or another, but can at times also very easily get on each other's nerves.

It's time we finish this week off with a bang.

This song plays exclusively during Monster Mix's genocide route. The typical context of Melting Under Pressure wouldn't apply to this run, so a unique song was made to better fit this scenario.

As Frisk slaughters the monsters in the Ruins, Chara avoids them and quickly rushes to Alphys to explain what's going on, before making their way out of the Ruins to quickly notify as many monsters as they can. As soon as Frisk arrives at Alphys' home, she pretends not to know what's going on. When Frisk is ready to leave, she follows them downstairs. As Frisk is cornered by the Amalgamates, she joins their side of the fight.

After refusing to die and bow down to Frisk, Chara and Sans team up against Frisk to finally put a stop to their awful deeds once and for all. Will their teamwork be enough, or will Frisk slash through them like they've slashed through everyone else in their path?

The trip throughout Hotland is, save for the occasional smaller monsters, rather barren. Asriel and Flowey are nowhere to be found, and everyone else seems to have evactuated as well. The only place that still has a decent amount of monsters left to snuff out is the CORE... and at the very end, that's where Asriel and Flowey await Frisk.

Fueled with rage, determination and a whole bunch of other messed up emotions, it's their turn to try and put an end to this nightmare.

Specifics for how the battle would play out are yet to be decided, but I imagine that during any of their attacks, everyone's bullet patterns make it in at some point -- even if not all simultaneously.

"Nobody" is the Mad Dummy replacement. After Alphys moved to the Ruins, the body she had made for them was slowly running out of steam. Once it had finally kicked the bucket, they felt dissatisfied with it. Not to mention it felt a whole lot heavier to maneuver it without its extra electrical charge.

With no way to transport their old body all the way to the Ruins, they've decided to just stick around in Waterfall in the hopes that nobody would stumble upon them. So when Frisk does stumble upon them, they feel they have the opportunity to prove to someone that they DO know who they are.

The Premonition and It's Raining Somewhere Else replacements are contextually drastically different from how they're usually used.

Grillby and Muffet share a building in the suburbs. Muffet uses it as a pastry parlor during the day, and Grillby uses it as a bar 'n grill at night. Rather than any old date with Grillby, he invites Frisk back to the suburbs for dinner at his bar 'n grill, where they'll also get to hang out with his friends/loyal customers.

This track serves as the main enemy encounter theme during the genocide route. This kicks in after the Ruins, after monsters have already been alerted of your presence and your actions, and have started preparing to kick your ass.

As the monsters start to catch wind of the path you've taken in the Ruins – thanks Chara – some monsters decide rather than run, they're going to do all they can to take you out before you can take them out. This group of monsters is known as The Gauntlet of Deadly Terror, inspired by their glorious king. While not everyone particularly took to the idea, with most of them just deciding to flee the scene, some braver monsters stay behind with the hopes of putting a stop to it.

Since the remaining battle themes represent the Ruins, Waterfall and Hotland in their thumbnails, I figured this one might as well use some Snowdin enemies. The new enemy is a bunny monster based on the little bunny on a leash, aptly named Bunbun. Clearly the scariest of all monsters.

They're actually usually stationed near the CORE, but they don't particularly care too much about doing their job, especially since they haven't seen a human in forever. Instead, these MTT-Brand Die Hard Mettaton Fans™ are found goofing off somewhere halfway through Hotland with their totally official MTT-Brand Costumes.

Of course, seeing a human or two makes them realize they've still got a job to do, so despite their totally awesome outfits they're gonna have to get their hands a little dirty.

Legend had it that this flower would bring salvation upon the Underground, but it appears salvation may have to wait a bit longer.

Flowey reveals here to Frisk (and potentially Chara) and Asriel that he is in fact the late king of the Underground, Asgore. This is something he kept from Asriel out of shame and fear. Being brought to life by the royal scientist only to find himself stuck in a flowery vessel, no sign of his wife... he couldn't bear to tell Asriel. So he simply acted as a friend. As the next closest thing Asriel would ever have again to a sibling.

Burn in Despair

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
