One of Gaster's Followers replaces Napstablook, and simultaneously serve as a tutorial for multi-party-member battles. After the tragic demise of Dr. Gaster and Dr. Alphys quit, this Follower moved its way to the Ruins where it would try and convince Alphys to return to the lab some day, if only to carry on Dr. Gaster's legacy.

The Follower, who sees TWO humans, realizes they have an opportunity to contribute to science and aims to extract the two human SOULs to offer to Alphys, unaware that that's the LAST thing Alphys wants at this point.

Undyne is the Asriel replacement. After having spent years on a pseudo mental health retreat, doing the Underground equivalent of going out in the woods for a while, she's spent a lot of time training, becoming stronger, so that one day, when she returns and takes her rightful place as empress -- until the young prince is old enough to take over -- she can wipe the smirk off any human that comes her way.

But after Frisk gets through to the humans whose souls Undyne absorbed, there isn't much she can do. While she struggles to keep the souls' power under her control, they simply refuse to feed into this power trip any longer, refuse to accept this as their fate, and it ultimately weakens her. Undyne is swiftly brought to her knees as this power slowly drains from her, and she starts to grasp what she's done, and starts to remember her true goal in all this.

Freedom.
So Undyne releases the SOULs into the barrier, destroying it completely, allowing for monsters to leave the Underground at long last.

This song did not go through a very drastic change from its previous incarnation. Originally I planned for the menu themes to actually have a merciless equivalent the further down that route you go, but realized that it probably would just go silent eventually rather than building up to something instrumentally heavier and heavier. That said, I still in general wanted this first version of the menu theme to maintain a more neutral tone.

Also for anyone who's been wondering, I never did specifically reveal anything, but Undyne is the one narrating the Once Upon A Time intro sequence, as well as this little piece of flavor text in the menu.

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
