I was visiting LA in December and went round to chill at Grant and Luke’s (Kuuro) apartment. It was my first time meeting them but we’d spoken online for a few years prior. We made the drop idea in Grant’s bedroom studio that day, but the verses were entirely different and more disco focussed. From what I remember, we were just fucking about with crazy weird melodies until the original riff landed and we went from there! The song itself is about losing yourself in a person. When I was working on the second verse, I was heavily inspired by a lot of that eery Radiohead stuff, and the guitars in the outro even remind me of something from a Jeff Buckley record.
