In August last year, Anjunadeep released ‘Leave the Bones’, the powerful album born of an unlikely collaboration between multi-generational Haitian band Lakou Mizik and GRAMMY-winning electronic music artist Joseph Ray. 

The album garnered global attention, gaining support from the world’s premiere tastemakers for it’s daring sound design and vibrant depiction of Haitian Vodou culture. National Public Radio called the album a “mesmerizing, haunting and uplifting journey into the heart of Haitian culture”. The Times rated ‘Leave the Bones’ four out of five stars, whilst Mixmag named it a “celebration of creativity and possibility in the face of adversity”. The French-Canadian newspaper Le Devoir called it an album “that exposes the richness of the musical culture of the Antilles to the entire planet”, whilst global music magazine Songlines called it “message-driven, lovingly made; an album to play on repeat.” The album saw equally fervent recognition on radio, quickly reaching #1 on the NCAA world music charts and garnering support from Pete Tong, Danny Howard, and Sian Eleri at BBC Radio 1, Don Letts and Radcliffe & Maconie at BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 3, NPR, NTS, KCRW, KEXP, SiriusXM Chill, Resonance FM, Radio X, Jazz FM and Worldwide FM.
 
Now, almost six months later, Anjunadeep is proud to announce ‘Leave the Bones (Remixed)’, an eclectic collection of remixes featuring a worldly swathe of pioneering artists including DJ Koze, Henrik Schwarz, NERO, Michael Brun, Laolu, Gardy Girault, Martin Roth, and more. Featuring four unheard remixes courtesy of Laolu, Girault, and Roth, ‘Leave the Bones (Remixed)’ also includes previously released tracks supported by the likes of &ME, Hunee, Black Coffee, Laurence Guy, Dixon, HOSH, and Tim Sweeney (Beats in Space). 

A truly unique compilation representing many nationalities, ‘Leave the Bones (Remixed)’ demonstrates the universal danceability and expression of traditional Haitian music.

This ten-track compilation is a tessellation of artistic synergy and cross-genre-pollination in true ADE fashion. Helming the VA at the front, Elias remixes The Provincials' "Saba" featuring Božo Vrećo's enigmatic vocals at the marrow. Paris' Ankhoï sustains the blissful vibes, debuting on the label with an uplifting dance litany, 'Hallelujah' before letting Martin HERRS take listeners on a wistful caravan to 'Ramot de Galaad' via clubland. Up next, Savito's seductive rhythmic poetry wafts gracefully through Alegria's ebullient 'Current,' followed by Alessa Khin's effervescent tantric groover, 'Santa Muneca.' MBR 509 pulses forward as Berkan and Orkun Bozdemir re-awaken the aura of the 'Lost Acropolis,' then immerses into the viscous progressions and undulations of Ways of Thinking's 'Antes Esperando.' Propelled by lush ethnic instrumentals, cerebral electronic cadences permeate deeper in Secret Factory's 'Hey Jimmy,' continuing on to ethereal depths through James Deron's devotional rhapsody, 'Ewewo.' Lastly, we leave it up to F/Theme to wrap up this sonic escapade with nothing more timeless than a mesmerizing rendition of Christina Luna's cover of Daft Punk's iconic 'Get Lucky.'

Sparrow & Barbossa (Swiss Bryan Coletta and Uruguayan Emiliano Haberli) are a globetrotting DJ and production duo that are true lovers of ethnic and lost cultures and are devoted to transmitting this legacy through electronic music. As the world’s dance floors opened back up after lockdown, the duo were struck by how their music resonated with fans. “People told us how our music went with them through depression and through COVID, and it helped them,” they said. These emotional exchanges became the creative spark for their sophomore longplayer, Réciprocité.
 
The album consists of 14 tracks that showcase Sparrow & Barbossa’s vast range and musical maturity. Amongst the organic and electronic Latin house sounds is a dizzying and intoxicating adventure through time zones, dance floors, and generations. “We travel and gather so much energy from people. When they listen to our music and come to events it gives us energy and we wanted to take that energy and transmit it back through the album,” says Bryan (Sparrow). “This is our way of saying thank you to fans.”
 
The duo’s love of global influences manifests in collaborations on 12 of the album’s tracks, including appearances from artists based in Spain, Cuba, Turkey, Rwanda, and beyond. These include inspired performances by singer Maria de Moraes, who is the daughter of Brazilian bossa nova legend Vinicius de Moraes, Lion King musical singer Phindile Ndlovu, flamenco singer Osaba, Elektrofon, Turkish pop singer Kaan Akalin, Kenyan Afro-House singer-songwriter and performer Idd Aziz, Zimbabwean singer Vuyo Brown, and Turkish flutist Eyüpcan Açıkpazu.
 
Hector Romero, A&R Director at Orianna, first encountered Sparrow & Barbossa in 2018, and has watched their meteoric rise to underground cult-like stardom in that short period of time. “Earlier this year the boys shared a sketch of the album and once I heard it, I knew it was a great fit for Orianna. Réciprocitéshowcases some of their most intelligent and well-crafted compositions to date and is a testament to their evolution as artists. Myself, Dusko Justic, and the entire team are proud to represent them and assist them in getting to their next phase as live performing artists.” 
 
The release of Réciprocité follows three single drops from the album earlier this year, including “Condenao” with Spanish salsero vocalist and producer G.Zamora, “Bien Buena” with Cuban vocalist Eribertho Cruz, “Vagabundo” with flamenco vocalist and guitarist Chico Castillo (known as “The Gypsy”), along with what is arguably Sparrow & Barbossa’s sexiest tune to date, the June 1st release of “After Saturday Night”.
