Today we celebrate the Winter Solstice in the Northern hemisphere. A time of year where we have the longest of nights followed by shortest of days. In many ancient cultures this marks the symbolic death and rebirth of the sun and for many of us this midwinter day represents a shift, the end of a cycle and beginning of a new one, where we're going towards brighter times.

We'd like to host our celebration and final chapter of the Navigare Audio podcast for 2021 together with our dear friend and brother NESS from Italy. Visualize yourself barefoot on the psychedelic dancefloor together with your friends, turn on the volume and tune in to this set from this years edition of Modem Festival.

MONUMENT 329 : RENA

Thought-provoking and stimulating, RENA stacks MNMT 329 with cerebral loops, hypnotizing drones, and lively percussion.

Separating herself as a DJ in an increasingly competitive industry, RENA leaped into the notable territory through persistent work ethic and cerebral curations. From Greece, RENA’s journey started locally - offering extensive experience to develop her technical and programming skills. Capitalizing on subgenres ranging from dub and deep techno, to driving and raw, RENA surfaces a variety of flavors within, oftentimes including arpeggio accents, emotion-invocation, and heavy atmospherics.

RENA carries her selective taste into MNMT 329, bringing listeners an array of hidden gems. With each track emphasizing an element of its own, some share driving “bleeps and bloops”, deep drones, and arpeggios to drive the hour forward.

RENA has been heard playing at acclaimed international venues alongside seasoned artists such as Oscar Mulero, Sebastian Mullaert, Dasha Rush, Len Faki, and Ben Sims. Currently, RENA is resident to the semi-weekly show on Cannibal Radio, “un\common route’.”

Our 53rd Podcast comes from YUTA is a DJ / Organizer / Label A&R in Japan, who started his career since 2004. YUTA’s playfulness and visions are evident in his transformation from a leading Retro 90’Goa trance DJ under legendary Matsuri Digital, to his Psychedelic Techno project @liquiddropgroove

His music, which he describes as PSYCHEDELIC with build up and cinematic flow is a result of his huge experience as an artist, performing at major festivals such as Eclipse Festival (Australia/Indonesia/USA), Ozora (Hungary), Modem (Croatia), Tribal Gathering (Panama) etc. And numerous clubs in Asia and some Europe.

YUTA started “Agaitida" based in Okinawa in 2015. The theme of the festival is to bridge South-East Asia with a beautiful sunset location in a world heritage village.

His own Psychedelic Techno label Liquid Drop Groove was established in 2016 with a vision to create a space and soundwave that mimics a ripple made by a single drop on the surface of the water. From 2021, launched 2 festivals. EDEN an open air festival with the theme of "Paradise in the Sky" and SPECTACLE a conceptual party with DJ Nobu. 

YUTA provides mixes for London's NTS Radio that one of the best in internet radio, and for maniacal podcasts that reach a core audience around the world. He also runs to quality releases on Liquid Drop Groove, and managing podcasts and distributing downbeat videos. And write articles on Clubberia, a traditional media for electric music. Create a new wave in the techno scene by an original style.

Having travelled in the world and reached the realization that “Life = Psychedelic”he is on a mission to continue with the concept of“Reforming Consciousness”

The year is coming to an end, bringing us frosty nights and misty days full of contemplative moments. But not only the year is ending, also our Circulating Waves series is having its last episode after two years of existence. For the last act we are happy to welcome an important figure for our scene here in Berlin: Hypnotic Black Magic.

The seemingly tireless creator of Art bei Ton and Ambient Sleepers has hosted countless events and brought people from all over the world to Berlin dedicated to hypnotic music. Furthermore she visibly aims to promote diverse international artists within gender-balanced line ups, focusing of offering safe space for flinta* and queer artists to perform. Based in the capital, but also traveling around, she had the chance to play at venues like Griessmühle and ://about blank in Berlin, VENT in Tokyo, Gare in Porto, Vurt. in Seoul, Ciało in Wroclaw and many other events and cities in the world. She creates musical journeys conceived as introspective explorations of human's deepest obscure thoughts, meditative states and sensual expressions.

Hypnotic Black Magic has done honour to her closing duty, as her mix guides us through all the colors of the vortex for a last time: Sirens are singing on lush flying particles, eerie atmospheres are backing quirky sounds and flowing rythms are merging into heavy rollers. 66 minutes which will suck you in, roll you over and release you as different being.

Circulating Waves #025 - Hypnotic Black Magic

This Liquid Drop Groove episode features Italian-born producer DINO SABATINI with this deep, intelligent, ritualistic mix with a psychedelic approach. Dino Sabatini is an artist whose strong body of work has helped to develop his local scene, and redefine what it means to work with electronic music in the 21st century: though his sounds are completely modern, synthesized and rendered with crystal clear production, he continues to tend the deep roots of lost wisdom and mythology that have sustained human creativity for millenia. The name of his label Outis, is taken from none other than Homer’s Odyssey (OYTIΣ, literally meaning “no one,” was the pseudonym that Odysseus used to succeed in his infamous deception of the cyclops Polyphemus). This choice of name is not just a clever title for Sabatini’s label, but is a very good indicator of his own character; working within the anonymous electric wilderness of techno, Sabatini continually goes beyond expectations by bringing the senses back into this world of automation and machines, occasionally invoking the names of the old gods (Poseidon) or goddesses / muses (Mnemosyne) along the way.
