As Lara Palmer has captivated our musical interest over the last couple of years, it was a pleasure to finally hear her play last summer in the forgotten valley of Monument Festival (@monument-podcast). Presenting a refreshing mix that travels between different moods in the early evening hours, Lara shows her strength behind the decks and her perfect understanding of the festival’s energy.

Atom™ and Tobias, maestros of electronic music, have been sculpting the soundscape of European techno since the 1980s. The mix is a rich tapestry of techno, woven with threads of experience from iconic venues like Berghain and the Labyrinth Festival in Japan. Listeners are invited to embark on a journey that traverses the traditional boundaries of the genre, venturing into uncharted auditory territories.

A live session that encapsulates three decades of evolution in the world of electronic music, where every moment is an spontaneous creation, and every sound a revelation.

Toxido Mask, is a DJ/Producer & Sound Designer based in Berlin.

With an energy that is resolute, her passion for natural detail orients throughout her music. Toxido is currently overseeing the artistic direction of the podcast series 'Catharsis'.

In this mix she focuses on a dance-floor approach, seeing her hypnotic signature interlaced with intricately tuned energy exploring the synergy between polyrhythms and straight grooves, harmony and disharmony,  clarity and distortion, yin and yang.

The mix is a representation of her current approach and style of mixing, subtle 3 decks layered with occasional reverbs and loops, all intertwined with the music which inspires her.

2023년을 마무리하는 56번째 vurt podcast는 네덜란드를 중심으로 활동중인 프랑스 출신의 디제이/프로듀서 Laura BCR과 함께합니다. On Board Music을 이끌며 유럽을 무대로 활발하게 활동하고 있는 Laura BCR의 2시간 세트는 지난 11월에 Badaboum 파리에서 열린 파티에서 녹음되었습니다. 

"Last November, I’ve had the chance to play a closing set right after Paramida and Alex Kassian on a Thursday night at Badaboum in Paris for Cahiers Electroniques. The night not being Techno oriented, I tried to respect the progression of the running order on building a groovy set, full of percussions and quite dub focused. It turned out super energetic and people were transported by the storytelling - it’s a very good memory that I wanted to share with Vurt as I’m playing at the venue in Seoul on January 6.

It’s a pure best of 2023 what I have been playing this year with some classic tunes that come time to time in my sets from Ruhig to Tin Man (both timeless), Luigi Tozzi, Dorisburg, DJ Sodeyama, Justin Cudmore, Ectomorph or Ben Buitendjik. Laura BCR은 그녀가 몇년동안 일했고 많은 사랑을 받았던 베를린의 레코드숍 베이스 카뎃 레코드(Bass Cadet Records)에서 자신의 아티스트 이름을 따왔다. Laura는 감미롭고 깊이 있는 테크노와 더비 앰비언트 DJ 세트로 가장 잘 알려져 있으며, 온보드 뮤직(On Board Music)레이블, 에이전시 및 파티를 운영하는 것으로도 유명하다. 그녀는 SoHaSo, live at Robert Johnson, On Board, Auxiliary, Semantica에서 음악을 발표했으며, 최근에는 Konstrukt에서 새로운 EP를 발표하였다.

Laura BCR takes her name from the much-loved and now closed, Berlin record store, Bass Cadet Records, where she spent a couple of years behind the counter. These days, Laura is best known for her transportive, deep techno and dubby ambient DJ sets and for managing On Board Music label, agency & party organization. She has released music on SoHaSo, live at Robert Johnson, On Board, Auxiliary, Semantica and her latest EP has been out on Konstrukt a few weeks ago.

Their sound is pensive with deep, rich textures; long track lengths—often six-minutes-plus—give the duo an expansive framework in which to make small changes of texture and tone, creating cerebral, balanced atmospheres that absorb and engage. 

“Sometimes we just take a short element, like the sound of a falling drop of water, and from this recording we extract the rhythm and use it as a starting point,” they say. “It’s a very organic way of creating new material.”
