Hey peeps,

here's my 3-hour closing set at ORPHIC. This was a really special one for me as I've been going to the Orphic parties quite a bit. From the first time visiting I wanted to play here. The crowd and vibe at these parties is zero to none, and the organisation is a lovely group of people with a very community-based mindset. 

I wanted to do something special, and I think you can hear that in this set. It's a very hypnotic and heavy set, ranging from very emotive to heavy dark tracks, with a lot of layering going on. There's a few small moments that are slightly messy as I was constantly playing with multiple decks at once, but that makes it human ;). The recording cut out at 2:50:00, so I edited the last few tracks in to ensure a safe landing after 3 hours.

The Groningen-based artist and no stranger to the collective has a keen ear for the ominous side of electronic music. With constant layering, he creates an atmosphere in which you easily get hooked to his rhythm. Taking inspiration from labels such as Mord, Dynamic Reflection, and PoleGroup, he knows how to set the tone with a raw edge.

With this mix, he displays a droning take on his sound, reflecting his passion for hefty electronics.

Fernando Sanz aka @orbeartist has been steadfastly dedicated to the craft of beats and breaks since he was a young sprout of 14 years in the sun baked southern Spanish port city of Algeciras. Under the imprint Orbe Records, Sanz has cultivated his own thriving techno community as artist and label head. Since 2014 Orbe Records has been lashing the block rocking techno of Sanz’s comrades Eduardo De La Calle and Steve Stoll, but mostly of Sanz’s own prolific moniker, Orbe. Right on cue to support the release of his newest EP on SK_eleven, here comes Manchester via Berlin's own Setaoc Mass with a banger of a mix to break June in proper, pedal to the metal. Exponent of a sound both intrinsically rugged yet layered to mind-altering effect, the British producer has been dishing out unstoppable slices of hi-velocity techno laced with a signature stripped-back, psychedelic edge. This new RYC podcast doesn’t veer off from such a direction and we’re graced with a two-hour mind trip boasting both bass-driven warehouse impact and an elegantly-woven tapestry of abrasive grooves, leaning by turn towards atmospheric elation and on other occasions pushing in the direction of utter fibrous, steel-coated industrial pound. The result is a wilder than wild ride down a smouldering pit of acid-washed hard hitters. Brutal.
