Artist Biography
Dórival Cora, aka Overturn, is a Galician artist who has been involved in electronic music for more than a decade, both performing live and producing music on his own label, Overturn Records. He currently spends his time searching for the sound he most identifies with, moving between a low bpms techno sound with huge atmospheres and repetitive rhythms that move between the naturist, landscape designer and vanguard, seeking to reflect utopian worlds and trying to generate in the listener the complexity and immensity of life and the beauty that comes with it.

Mario F ha hecho tantas cosas maravillosas por y para la música electrónica que no nos cabe toda la explicación que se merece aquí… así que os dejamos simplemente con el emotivo texto que nos ha escrito para expresar sus motivos e intención de grabarse el 25º podcast de TILECT:


“𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼: 𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶ó𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮


Mi colega David Gozálvez hizo un programa muy interesante para AMEBA Radio, donde conectó música electrónica y filosofía. Entre otros temas, habló del 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢 de Mark Fisher: esa idea de que vivimos en una condición cultural donde ya no podemos imaginar alternativas al sistema actual. En la música electrónica, esto se refleja en una repetición constante del pasado: reciclamos estilos, sonidos, ideas, en lugar de avanzar hacia lo nuevo.

Aunque este género nació con una vocación claramente futurista —de Kraftwerk al Detroit techno, pasando por el IDM de los 90—, muchas escenas actuales parecen haber perdido ese impulso utópico. Algunos paralelismos con el pensamiento de Fisher:

	•	𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻í𝗮 𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹: proliferan los revivals de house, trance, breakbeat o jungle, a menudo sin recontextualización. Se buscan texturas lo-fi, plugins que emulan vinilos o cintas como garantía de autenticidad.
	•	𝗟𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗼 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲, 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗼 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶ó𝗻: los primeros raves tenían una dimensión comunitaria y política. Hoy, muchas fiestas son simplemente ocio programado, productos culturales más que experiencias transformadoras.
	•	𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘀: algoritmos, métricas y visibilidad en redes condicionan la creación. Lo reconocible, lo “playlistable”, prima sobre la exploración sonora o emocional.

𝗨𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗹𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗼

Llevo años coleccionando música de todo tipo, pero últimamente me han atrapado artistas como 𝘓𝘶𝘪𝘨𝘪 𝘛𝘰𝘻𝘻𝘪, 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦 o 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘰 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢, y sellos como 𝘏𝘺𝘱𝘯𝘶𝘴, 𝘚𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢 o 𝘕𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴. Desde que fui por primera vez al festival 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹·𝗹𝗲𝗹 en 2019, el deep techno ha conseguido devolverme la ilusión de los primeros años: sorpresa, descubrimiento, viaje.

Este estilo, cuando se usa para construir historias, puede llevarte por paisajes desconocidos, tanto desde la pista como tras los platos. Desde entonces he conocido a muchas personas en esta misma sintonía, y festivales como 𝗕𝗨𝗚, colectivos como 𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧, eventos como 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮 o clubs como 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗧 se han vuelto espacios familiares y significativos.

Este set es un resumen de ese camino. Está grabado con dos platos 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀, una mesa 𝗘𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗠4 y un 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗼 para los delays.

Influenced by sounds such as bebop or progressive psychedelic rock and focused on experimental and ambient music rather than clubbing in its beginnings, Pharma later delved into deep and immersive sound, creating an amalgam that has been interconnected over time to finally take shape in both listening and clubbing sets with a specific musical discourse in each context, connected to dub, trippy sounds and ambient landscapes, where the density between lights and shadows promotes mental activity that prevails over physical activity.

Haruka x Craig Gonzalez opened the Dance Room at I.T. presents The Bunker, May 26, 2025, Day 3 of Return to the Source, at Tangent, Detroit.

It's one thing to hop on the decks with someone during peak time at a party in a packed room like the first time Haruka and I played together in NYC but it's another to open a party during the last leg of RTTS weekend. So we started talking about the set a couple of months beforehand, but nothing really prepares you until you're in the middle of RTTS weekend itself. We were texting and chatting about the setup and direction throughout the weekend and eventually landed on keeping things a little funky and fun.  Playing with someone with a similar approach to DJing and also range really made the set feel so effortless for me and I feel that cohesion and the fun we had translated quite well to those that were in attendance.

2023, Good Room (Brooklyn)
We were both booked to play a Bunker party that night and with an hour left before our room was about to shut down, I asked Craig to jump on for an unplanned B2B.  Craig had already set the room up with a deep, super-diverse selection and then vibe in our room was so good, I will never forgot it. So when IT asked us to do it again we got hyped.

RTTS, Detroit
Our slot opened the last day of the three-day marathon, and other parties were running in the daytime too, so it felt like one long 72-hour session. Craig also played Movement. It was my first time in Detroit, so I wandered around, popped into a bunch of events, but spent every night back at Tangent Gallery with Craig—talking, listening to other artists, and getting a real feel for the room. That helped us lock in the vibe and refine the ideas we’d been tossing around for months.

The set
Two words kept coming up: funky and fun (maybe sexy too). I played only a few recent tracks but most were older finds with some electro slipped in naturally. In hindsight the whole thing was a back-and-forth between electro and deep, psychedelic techno, with extra flavours layered on top.
