Reality resurfaces like bird shit on a windshield upon descent from the Nirvana of vice. Restless wailing, snare taps echoing semi-automatic rounds, a detuned bassline slithering among the mire – Richmond. Despair clutches the listener during the album’s coming of age track “R.i.C.H.” featuring Richmond ambassador “Nickelus F” and We The Best Music’s “Red Rum.” The opening sample informs us that “America is not a country, it’s just a business.” Taboo issues of sexual abuse, substance abuse, adolescent mortality, and the vicious inner-city cycle that perpetuates the implosion of Black households bears itself front and center in “R.i.C.h.” The raspy saxophone solo of Talton Manning pinches the nerve of the listener – adding salt to an already infected wound.

“Ascension” featuring Lano the Don caresses the ear of the listener in the wake of a skit/rant performed by Mr. Middle Finger. “Ascension” boldly taps itself as the first scene of Monument Avenue. This song entrenches the listener in the roots of our hero’s value system – “God, Family, Get Money…everything else in the Way.” These are the tenets upon which Noah attacks the viruses crippling our city. A family man emerges, seeking to eradicate apathetic soothsayers draining the pulse of society. Noah reflects on his ascension to internal peace while peering through tinted WINDOWS at afflicted city streets. His mission? The proliferation of hope.

“Trap,” serves as an indictment of the current state of hip hop, its role in systemic racism and the mental imprisonment of the culture. Noah separates himself from the false prophets of bling and excess, and asserts himself as a leader of the people.
