Bios: 

Donna Dada (@donnadada) infuses her passion and energy into creating optimal dance dynamics. Influenced by her Trinidadian/Nigerian heritage and a lifelong love affair with UK dance culture, Donna Dada’s sets range from the newest in techno and afrobass to UKG and jungle.

Hailing from Worcestershire, UK (like the sauce), and now calling Vancouver home, Kraang (@kraang.wav AKA @kanepick) likes to keep the floor alive with cruisey House selects and large dose of UK Garage and Breaks flavours. New to producing, Kraang has a handful of self released tracks on Soundcloud and Bandcamp with more wobblers on the way. 

Originally from England, Rōshi's (@conorcrozier) sets are heavily influenced by the sounds of the UK. Expect everything from Garage and Grime to Breaks and Bassline.

My guest for September’s edition of Super Best is https://soundcloud.com/cassakura - Cass has become a mainstay in the Calgary scene in the past few years, regularly playing parties like In Plain Site, Cutting Shapes, Versions and more. It just so lined up that she would be in town for this month’s show : ) 

Bio: Cassandra Safran is a multidisciplinary creative based out of Calgary AB. She finds fluid moments as a floral designer, student of sensory design, poet, herbalist, free skier, and DJ. She has been involved in Calgary/western Canada’s underground electronic scene for over a decade, and has been an active DJ for the last 4+ years. Cassafran’s career has been fostered and encouraged by ClubHaus, Hifi Club, Minimal Skids, Cutting Shapes, and Window Kids collectives, and she plays shows frequently in Calgary and peripheral area. Cass primarily plays deep house, techno, and minimal techno adjacent sounds with cuts of jazz, acid, breaks, and ukg, with each set curated to context. 

Cassafran is working towards curating her own events in unlikely locales, and looks forward to playing sets of ranging energies in intentional environments in the meantime.

Bio:

Kozue is a Canadian based DJ who was born and raised in Japan.Her DJ style brings a positive and memorable experience to her audience through an expansive journey that touches across her unique selections of organic, electronic and eclectic sounds.
During the early 2000’s, she found a distinct interest in music and DJing which lead her to play shows in clubs across Tokyo such as Unit, Air, Womb, Zero, Organ Bar, Web, and more.
Kozue also worked as an editor for Tokyo based music magazine ‘Groove’ where she interviewed a diverse range of legendary producers and top DJs from around the world such as DJ Harvey, David Morales, Adrian Sherwood, Andrew Weatherall, Flying Lotus, Orbital, Laurent Garnier, Joaquin “Joe” Claussell, and so on. The experience of hearing their stories and philosophy influenced her to further pursue a DJ career with a global, open minded perspective.
During the mid 2010’s, Kozue moved to Canada and began her life in North America. From there, she traveled to New York, Montreal, and Berlin to experience their regional electronic dance music scenes and enhance her grasp of global music culture. Kozue began sharing her diverse musical selections when DJ opportunities came through local club events in Toronto such as Subtle Blend, Frequencies, etc.
In 2019, she moved to the west coast and began a new life in Vancouver. From 2021, Kozue started resident DJ at the Bar Diamond in Vancouver every month, where she curated pleasant moments through four hour vinyl DJ sets.
In April 2023, she embarked on a new chapter of her musical journey by launching the Audio-Visual DJ Showcase ‘’Resound’’ on B-Side Radio. What started as a Vancouver local showcase has rapidly evolved into a platform that connecting with DJ and producers from coast to coast in Canada.
Kozue has been an integral part of music events in Vancouver, such as Public Disco, Bastid's BBQ, SUNWAVE, etc. Her sonic explorations reached the out side of local and as she took to the stage at Montreal and Calgary music event/venue.

Man Keen is a diverse selector and often picks tracks with focus on driving rhythms, emotive acid tones, 90’s inspired euphoric sounds, and timeless patterns. He enjoys building sets with direction and flow while exploring rich and contrasting soundscapes. He is an avid music digger and has been collecting dance music since the early 2000’s with emphasis on functional dance floor rhythms. Much of his earlier influences came from his time spent in Edmonton and being involved with the house and techno scene  there. Since moving to Vancouver he has been involved with booking some notable electronic artists, throwing his own party series, DJing for Leave Us Lost, Public Disco, Denizens, and Dolly Disco, and playing at festivals such as Bass Coast, Aqua Lucidity, and Yelapa the Gathering.

Over the past year, Wax When You Want has evolved from a sunny afternoon hangout into a biweekly DJ jam session and family gathering hosted by Barometry, DJ DIRECT DEPO$IT, APOLLO, and Dairy Free. At its heart, Wax is an attempt to weave the wonder and play of the dance floor into the tapestry everyday life. DJ dood can be found riding the waves of the local Vancouver electronic scene, focusing on creating a soundscape that encourages people to connect both with each other and the audio. Selecting to evoke feeling with a classic groovy bass line or familiar vocal; tones of hip hop, RnB, jazz and disco can be found floating over her selections of house, deep house & techno. Outside of the booth, dood has been hosting dance opportunities and showcased an art installation at Bass Coast 2023. She now serves as the Program Coordinator for Van Mural Fest and the Program Manager for Public Disco, curating community-based dance opportunities in unconventional urban spaces. Find them bouncing around the local club circuit at venues like Vantek, Industrial Garden, Village Studios or The Birdhouse and tune into her monthly radio show, ‘Sup dood?’ on Bside Radio. With a deep apprecia:on for the craft of DJing, digging, and sharing music, Taylor seeks out classic and contemporary sounds across genres with a focus on the deep, lush and emotive. As the host of Super Best, a monthly radio show on Vancouver’s B-Side Radio, Taylor looks to elevate his peers, his source of inspiration, and present unfamiliar and experimental dance music.

A longtime contributor to the Canadian west coast scene, Taylor’s past efforts have included organizing and promoting local events, curating Versions, a long-running patio party in Calgary and starting the celebrated mix series Excursions.fm. Taylor has been support for acts such as Lone, Leon Vynehall and Mall Grab, and has performed at festivals like Bass Coast, Shambhala, Rifflandia, and Sled Island.
