Fresh new heat coming in from the absolute babe, Ady Toledano, who we had the pleasure of meeting in Tresor during one of the last pre pandemic dances 💓

Hailing from Tel Aviv and based in Berlin, Ady Todelano is one of the most consistent forces on the queer scene in the German capital. Known for his long sets combining different genres and energy levels, he has been constantly invited to events of the caliber of Cocktail d'Amore, Buttons, TrashEra, Lab.Dance, RIOT, where he is a resident, renowned clubs such as Tresor in Berlin, Alphabet in Tel Aviv and Good Room in New York, and live broadcasts like HÖR .

Bringing Grandma to Panorama House

The wilderness has captivated my attention like few other things. Although there are many homages to these places, few capture the mystery and grandeur like Solomon Grey's "Choir To The Wild," which served as a guiding reminder of the lands beyond the noise of the city while I was living in London. In listening and listening, I realized there was potential for a remix and so I went to work. Now that I am back in Montana it seemed fitting to share it while in this place of wild and wonder.

Volume XI brought to you by Barcelona based producer, Gullen (@gullenmusic). Steadily building a name for himself since 2014, Gullen has developed an increasingly distinct sound, leaning towards lazier rhythms and opened envelope synthesis.  His productions capture a joy, haze and lethargy which feel akin to the atmosphere when walking the streets of his hometown under a blazing June sun. His upcoming Faraday EP on Soulful Techno (@soulfultechno) [18 May], which makes a full cameo in the mix, is the strongest testament to this yet. Lush synths and brushed percussion lap the listener in the dog days of Catalonian summer.

His mix selections follow a similar esthetic and point to one immediately clear takeaway: Gullen is a song lover. He matches pop sensibility with headier electronic grooves to deliver an hour-long tour moving through the spectrum of his tastes.

This is a long-overdue homage to one of the best house labels ever conceived. At only ten releases long, and almost entirely created by both The Timewriter and Terry Lee Brown Jr., Driftwood hit the mark every single time with some of the smoothest deep house around. 

It took me quite a while to complete the series, not to mention a good amount of money, but the hunt was worth every penny. I've owned the entire series for about six years now, but just now am finally getting around to compiling a mix of only driftwood tracks. 

Total respect goes to the Driftwood label, Jean F. Cochois AKA The Timewriter, Norman Feller AKA Terry Lee Brown Jr., Hakan Lidbo, Robi Uppin, and Jonathan Axelsson. Special thanks goes to my friend Travis Wolf for originally pointing this label out to me back in 2002 and for kicking off an obsessed passion for this Imprint.
