Slow Cookin'

This month Carhartt Radio features the music of Testiculo Y Uno, a fresh and unabashed producer duo from Germany. Testiculo Y Uno are Twit One and Hulk Hodn, two heartfelt dedicated producers right out of the centre of Cologne's sizzling contemporary Hip Hop scene. Hulk Hodn is also known as the DJ and beatmaker for one of Germany's most hailed Hip Hop acts Huss & Hodn, nowadays renamed into Retrogott & Hulk Hodn. Twit Uno is a man of many faces. He works at the famose Groove Attack record store, is one third of the men behind Radio Love Love, runs a DIY label, is part of Flatpocket, and works also together with the House producer Damiano von Erckert. For Carhartt Radio they mixed a one hour show full of dusty beats, exceptional samples, and lots of soulful vibes. All tracks been made by themselfs in their cosy homestudio, where time does not matter and only music calls the tune.

For our next session FloFilz (@FloFills) mixed up a vinyl gem selection for us. The born and bred German beats genius has been making quite a name for himself with his unique "Jazz sample based Oldschool shit", how he calls it. But his selection is broad and ranges from Hip-Hop beats to all kind of soulful genres. He has been releasing eps and albums on labels like Closer, Jakarta and Melting pot Music!

The comeback of our mixtape sessions is finally here! Music has always been a passion of ours and a big part of the creative environment we surround ourselves with. So it was only a matter of time ‚till we bounce back with another beater. Now it’s finally here: We teamed up with young talented musician and beat connaisseur FloFilz and streetwear’s primary rock Carhartt WIP to create this exclusive experience.

For the 4th Edition of our series Flo compiles a variety of unreleased material, exclusive remixes and classic instrumental hip hop to 50 minutes of Teacup Trouble. When the leaves turn brown we all like to spend a cold dark autumn evening inside a warm cozy home with our hands wrapped around a good cup of tea. But at the same damn time there’s trouble going on outside. Drug dealing, drive-bys, hustle. That real gangster sh*t. Teacup Trouble combines both worlds into one great piece of music.

To complete our project we partnered with Carhartt WIP to create a unique Bundle including a T-Shirt, a Teacup, good Tea, Special Packaging and for the first time in our young mixtape session history an actual tape.

For this month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show we bring you FloFilz, one of Germany’s most in-demand hip hop producers. Since 2013 he has released instrumental records on labels such as Melting Pot Music and Jakarta, with a style that seductively blends soul- and jazz-influenced grooves.

FloFilz’s first two albums as a beatmaker were collaborative works, and in late 2014 he released his first solo LP titled "Metronom". Four instrumental albums have since followed, cementing his reputation as jazz-connoisseur producer, who seeks to open up the genre to a new generation of listeners.

For his Carhartt WIP Radio show, he melds older work with tracks from his upcoming album "Transit". As usual we also sat down to speak to this month’s host, chatting about his upbringing, Bach and J Dilla, and his thoughts on Germany’s hip hop scene.
