Caribbean rhythm, the man who drinks beer with pepper sauce. In 2018 he was visiting São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro playing on Mareh stand at MECA Festival, it was awesome. World Disco Edits producer, the mexican Fernando makes his mixes on the same way playing some of his own tracks influenced by African, Latin and psychedelic American Funk like James Brown (who kissed the hand of his dad at a concert in Philadelphia mid 70's). A mystical vibe like the warm Caribbean nights between Tulum, Playa and Cancun, where @the-funk-district resides and spreads his music.

So that was the final night at the Paradise Farage. Sadly the club has had to be closed down, demolished and the site turned into a giant lorry park as a result of Brexit. For our last show, we travelled to Ray Mang's studio and streamed live from deepest East London with Mr Mang himself, a Leftside Wobble guest mix and me. Uplifting, life-affirming, and perfectly timed for the summer months - cobbled together, Heath Robinson stylee, more by serendipity than design, into a coherent whole by DJ / Producer Greg Wilson. Most of the tracks featured are by Blind Arcade (Kermit Leveridge & EVM128), either existing demos or works in progress, but the mixtape is also peppered with half-a-dozen GW edits, lyrically laced to bubble the Super Weird stew – the constant presence, and main ingredient, being Kermit, for it's his inspirational tale of faith and redemption at the very core of this morphogenetic mixtape. Following on from the Ruthless Rap Assassins and Black Grape, we believe that this is his greatest musical odyssey, drawing from the deep wells of his own mythos and logos. There were 3 frontmen in the Rap Assassins, 2 in Black Grape, but now, for the first time, Kermit steps to the fore – no longer to be described by such a limited term as 'rapper', but as a sabre-skilled vocal chameleon, his shades and depths ranging from wise old soul to lovestruck adolescent, invoking his many I's as a cast of compelling characters, both comic book and close–up personal, whilst, in trickster tradition, keeping us on our toes, not knowing what to expect next.

BON VOYAGE: Canyon Rock, Fireside Funk, Shoreside Synth, Hot Tub Soul by Paul Hillery

Going through some of our old external harddisks dug up in our studio basement annex wine cellar we came across this almost a decade (!) old Kraak & Smaak mixtape, inspired by the likes of Madlib and J Dilla. 
A blend of weird samples, lost and found grooves, it also features long lost Plastic People album demo’s – some of which made it on there eventually (spot ‘m if you can!) and some, well, didn’t.

Remembering the fact that we had good fun making this but never really did anything public with it, we thought it would be cool to share this with you after almost 10 years later after all.

So enjoy and be sure and listen from the top for maximum pleasure!

I realised last week that it's 10 years since I started DJing and producing under the Leftside Wobble moniker and it also so happened that one of the inspirations for getting back into music 10 years ago was celebrating his 50th this weekend. So a revival of the Dub Disco Deli mix series seemed apt for the occasion as that was always the series of mixes that stayed most true to the LW unbounded by genres ethos. Really enjoyed putting this one together, hope you dig it too. x
