Fuelled by long drives across desert landscapes taking in California, Nevada, and Texas, Bradford’s own Mookie + The Bab are an all-acoustic indie-folk group whose acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, layered vocals, and occasional trumpet capture the sound of the American Southwest – yet remains true to British working class roots.

Moved by climate emergency, floods, fires, desertification, and exploring organic sounds with rousing harmonies, multi-instrumentalists Abi Otway, Marc Otway and Conor Magi’s Americana-Yorkshire folk blend is steeped in nature, emerging from their unique bond after many years making music together and travels playing festivals internationally and across the UK

Ghosts of you was written during a trip to Joshua Tree national park. The lyrics contrast the desert of today with its lush past where rivers flowed and fruit trees grew. Now the desert is mostly dry and baron but with tantalising mirages that occasionally flicker in the unreachable distance like ghosts of the rivers that once ran through. With a earthy organic arrangement of acoustic instruments and ghostly male/female lead vocals that bring out the atmosphere of the lyrical imagery.

Who is Mookie and The Bab
Mookie and The bab have been selling out small local gigs around West Yorkshire and their debut EP 'GoldRush" received a lot of support form BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio. With three part harmonies being compared to Crosby Stills and Nash and the array of different instruments, the live show is an eclectic balance of variety, entertaining stage chat and catchy footstomping sing alongs.
