Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records welcomes its newest signing in the form of UK based AZETE, for the release of debut single, 'In My Head'. One of 2021's most exciting new prospects, AZETE, is no newcomer to the Dance scene, with years of studio work and prolific releases under his belt he has more than enough skills to back up the hype. AZETE, debuts with 'In My Head'; a track that oozes sophistication and intricacy, an emotional groover with laid-back hip-swinging House drums, intricate piano melodies, comforting synths and an uplifting bassline providing a grooving low-end melody and hypnotic vocal utterances of the tracks' title. Next up on Saved Records is a release that we have been super excited to share with you, and one that label boss Nic Fanciulli has been hammering in every set. We welcome RETNA to the family who teams up with Nic to deliver their brand-new collaborative single, ‘This Is Life’. Although fairly early on in his career with his first release surfacing in 2019, RETNA has gone on to release on some of the most respected labels in the industry including Toolroom, Mr. Carter, Virago Records & Toolroom Trax alongside his own label BOTAR Records and has received support from established artists including Adam Beyer, Skream, Carlo Lio, De La Swing, Ida Engberg, Huxley and more. ‘This Is Life’ showcases RETNA’s distinctive raw and intrusive dancefloor sound with hypnotic vocal chants and a grooving bassline combined with Nic Fanciulli’s Afro drums, rave-inspired synths, thundering kicks, and a rumbling low end throughout. Following their 2018 collaboration Jano, producers Joe Red & Paul Darey reunite for their slamming debut Retrospective EP on Solardo’s Sola label who have been championing the rising talent.

A two-track weapon, Retrospective EP kicks off with haunting synth lines that proceed into a weighty breakdown spanning the realms of tech house, acid house and techno. Meanwhile, Can You Play To My Beat leans into more uplifting territories boasting grumbling vocals that weave amongst vivacious throttles and soaring lasers. 

Hailing from Mallorca, Joe Red has garnered support world wide whilst shaking the dance floors of renowned venues including Sankeys Ibiza, BCM and many others. His intricate originals have also seen him release on the likes of Toolroom, Defected and others as well as receiving continued DJ backing from heavyweights, Marco Carola, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet among others.  With an array of releases that have landed in the Beatport Top 10, the Retrospective EP is sure to a hold similar fate. 

Elsewhere, Paul Darey has cemented himself on the scene since his breakthrough with Roger Sánchez at the Release Yourself pre-party at Café Mambo. Since his rise, Paul has graced labels including Cr2, Defected, Deeperfect and many more with this Sola release marking his first impressive release of 2019.

The positive connections continue as Catz ‘n Dogz update their Music Manifesto with the latest single from their well-received fourth album ‘Friendship’. Originally penned by aforementioned rising Raleigh artist ZenSoFly and her producer-in-crime Maxville, then developed with Catz ‘n Dogz, Zen’s lyrics will resonate deeply with every genuine creative bone in all of our body while the Pets bossmen whip up a jittering, bumpy, horn-poked groove that nods at the old Classic Music sound. The message is clear: make your own wave, be true to what you want to do and don’t put other people’s waves down. Life is too short to feel any other way. 
Life’s too short not to pay attention to these two extraordinary remixes, too. Each one rides its own totally unique wave; long-time compadre Justin Martin touches the crest with his light-footed jack, bubbling bass groove and sudden spasms of glitchy funk while Optimo-fresh Theus Mago continues his remarkable vein of form with an intergalactic sleazy sci-fi funk perspective. For their big debut on Moon Harbour, CamelPhat have linked up with Cari Golden, the voice of modern house music, for a superb new single that comes backed with a remix from label head Matthias Tanzmann. 

British duo CamelPhat have risen from the underground to go on to global prominence. Their big house sounds often feature guests and collaborators, but none were more successful than their Grammy-nominated smash hit 'Cola' with Elderbrook. They have released on labels like Defected, Sola and Snatch! and now serve up another of their timeless tunes with Cari Golden, who has featured with the diverse likes of Groove Armada, DJ T and Roger Sanchez on plenty of Beatport number ones. She can sing on sunny boat party sounds as well as raw warehouse tunes with equal style, and here offers something brilliantly intense. 

The intoxicating 'Freak' is a high impact affair designed for big rooms. The techno tinged drums are overlaid with Golden's paranoid vocals. Her dark delivery is matched by the turbulent bass and taught synths that add to the sense of tension that will sweep the dance floor off its feet. 

Remixing is main man Matthias Tanzmann, who is in fine form as he strips things back to a bubbling, pressurised Tech House groove. He layers in sweeping white noise, chattery claps and the original vocal as well as plenty of freaky effects to make for a track that will flip dancers inside out. 

This is another high-grade release from all concerned.

Freak

Few labels have established themselves as solidly and definitively as Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas’ Moon Harbour. Since the turn of the millennium it has been a bastion of deep and tech house quality that has not moved with the times, but has defined them ahead of trend. Through a carefully curated series of EPs and LPs, the label has fomented its own close-knit family that expands and contracts with careful consideration.
