Ronnie Spiteri brings some new, serious summer heat on his own Kenja Records imprint. The Southampton local has been busy during lockdown, working on a heap of new music for his own imprint, with some class collabs and remixes to add to the mix. After the first gig back at Fabric this last weekend, 2021 looks to be shaping up nicely for the humble house producer. 'All I Need' delivers pure peak time pleasure as one would expect from the exciting UK based DJ/producer. Expect serious bass synth filth action here, driven by a pounding kick, tight percussion and sweet female vocal. Class. A proper banger! 'Relentless' is the flip side, AA side nugget that goes deeper into tech as it layers lush pads, a shuffling techy groove another wicked vocal. On remix duties is none other than Josh Butler! World-class in every way his remix is groovy, a journey into deep tech with super tight percussion, a funky bassline, rolling percussion and trippy fx'd pads. Chilean-born Francisco Allendes returns to Crosstown Rebels for the first time in six years this May. Serving up the three-track What You Do, the title number has already received global airplay via Damian Lazarus himself. Now, the full release will be made available next month and includes a remix by US-legend Harry Romero.

“What You Do is one of those tracks that happens magically on a jam and you can't really make it much better after that. I wrote it during the pandemic, so I wanted to create a weapon for when clubs would open again. Maratone came about the day after I played b2b with Matthias Tanzmann for thirteen hours, at the birthday of a friend in Ibiza. I sent both tracks to Damian and didn’t hear back from him for a few months... then I woke up to his WhatsApp message. It was a video of him playing What You Do at Space Miami and people climbing the walls of the club!” - Francisco Allendes.

A contemporary dose of four-on-the-floor house, What You Do leaves few prisoners in its wake, as rampant drum patterns converge on a heady combination of kicks, synths and irresistible vocals right the way through. There’s an infectious energy to the track, paving the way for Harry Romero’s similarly up-tempo remix. It’s feel-good, club ready dance music at its best, packed full of low-slung groove that opens neatly into the closing sequence: Maratone, a stripped-back, techy cut that bears all the hallmarks of a true Ibiza anthem.

Hailing from Chile and now based in Ibiza, Francisco Allendes is a leading light in today’s scene. Be it Loco Dice’s Desolat, Steve Lawler’s VIVA or Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, his productions have graced some of the industry’s most well-respected labels. Such quality hasn’t gone unnoticed - he picked up the ‘Best Ibiza’ DJ Award in September 2019 and has gone on to complete several South American tours. A much loved affiliate of ANTS, Francisco has a long standing residency at both Ushuaïa in Ibiza and their affiliated tours, in addition to hosting the weekly radio show.

Seminal American house talent Harry Romero is a well-established figure on the worldwide music circuit. A prominent global DJ and producer since the ‘90s, early productions on Cutting Records and Cutting Traxx helped set the tone for Harry’s career trajectory, opening the doors to a coveted BBC Radio 1 ‘Essential Mix’ in recent years.

'Kicking off the release, fast-rising talent Ben Walsh returns to Sola for his second outing on the label. The world-renowned Crosstown Rebels add the third instalment to their annual Spirits compilation, an album which has become established for delivering some of the biggest hits that have been heard in Damian Lazarus’ sets over the past year, from some of the most esteemed artists in electronic music. Let your mind become absorbed in this collection of diverse and exciting tracks.

The man himself Damian Lazarus opens the release, setting the tone with the haunting hypnosis of Ergot which contains snippets of an ancient Chilean revolution song, relevant to the current political climate. Next up Guti & Fosky collaborate once again in fine style to produce a smoky, late-night atmosphere, with the moody bassline and expertly crafted beat of Da Drumz. Side B and legendary producer Martin Buttrich combines driving tripped out rhythms with warm surging pads, creating a great musical tonic during Slow Down. Denney & James Dexter then deliver a peak time monster in the form of Transcend.

Next up Harry Romero adds a touch of romance on It’s You with an unravelling rhythm of heartfelt synth. More DJ ammunition is provided by Piem on Freak Out where a familiar looped sample is manipulated to ignite dance floor euphoria. Finally the bounce of Adonis Rivera’s XX Acid will have you hooked from the outset, as you would expect from the title, razor-sharp acid awakens every sense in this heady piece. Another great Spirits compilation to add to the esteemed series.
