3 QUESTIONS to ELIF:
Q: What a huge storyteller. Guess you could have mixed 300+ tracks. So why did you choose these tracks now and what did they mean to you once and still mean to you today? 

A: Thank youuu! I have been a fan of this brilliant podcast series for some time and it's a huge honor to be invited. So, yes, it was a big process to record this mix, a very special one for me, especially to decide on which tracks I wanted to include in it. And the thought process behind it. I think I can say that I have never put so much thought in another mix I have recorded. The story of How I Met The Bass definitely received very special attention from me. I tried to include as many influences as I could, but like you said, I could easily make a 10 hour mix. The elimination process happened with the flow of the story, and obviously I had to leave out so many other amazing tracks that shaped my musical understanding today. But these are still a good representation of my musical influence and I am happy with the journey I created. 

Q: How would you describe your own musical development since you first got in touch with Electronic Music? 

A: It is very similar to me, how I am as a person, I would say. Changing and evolving all the time, while keeping the very core of it untouched. A little bit like having that something special that hits the spot in common in so many different forms.

Q: What projects are you currently working on and what can we expect from you soon? 

A: I am obsessively and enthusiastically working on my new label: Marginalia. I am excited to create a platform to support, nurture and develop the incredible output of the producers whose music I have been playing all over the world over the past years. The concept of Marginalia itself dates back to the 11th Century and references the wildly inventive notes, markings, doodles and sketches made in the margins of medieval books and scriptures — a place where the human imagination was free to run wild. To translate this age-old creative even witty tradition into a twenty-first century paradigm, I am looking forward to hopefully and humbly giving back to the incredible pool of artists I admire and think deserve more recognition. The first release should come around September. Non-stop touring and creating a passion project at the same time is already taking lots of my time, yet I try to also produce whenever I have the time & inspiration. So we can expect lots of fresh music!

Based in Berlin, Florian has already received recognition from many within the proliferating European electronic music scene. Touring around Europe and also abroad, he is on the allegiant quest of refining the sound of his music. Just like a renowned composer known for his eclectic sounds John Cage once said, "Everything we do is music", Florian too finds an inspiration for his music in the the soundscapes of streets, in people's voices, in silence and nature, and above all, in the ordinary and extraordinary of real life.

The Flow sessions are a very unique podcast series. The project gives the artists so much more space to present their musical vision, and that's exactly what I did in my contribution. I love long DJ sets because with each hour I get deeper into my flow and can take people on a journey with me.  We start with a more leisurely pace, driving through the vastness of indie dance tracks, and spiraling more and more into the worlds of deep and melodic house. My mix winds through the many facets of my DJ sets and includes the different visions of modern electronic music that I like to present on the dancefloors of the world. Over time, the journey becomes more energetic and lands in the realm of more techno sounds. I love to tell stories and gain momentum over time to celebrate music together ecstatically. That's what I wanted to achieve with this mix. I really hope this one brings you joy. Thanks for having me. - Robin

Describing the sound and sonics aesthetics of Robin Schellenberg’s music, one could tend easily to use bold buzzwords like „Melodic Techno“ or „Deep House“  – but there is something more to it: his productions oscillate effortless through a soft dystopian void full of sweeping build up’s: His tracks are drifting endlessly into an infinite sky, twisting from warm unisons into harsher electronics, just to break down into well-tempered saturated up-tempo beats. It's not Dark Techno by definition, but Robin often gets driven towards its aesthetic, without drifting into its cold industrial repetition. His tracks feel like a deep yearning for the horizon, pulling the dancer tenderly forward with soft melancholy. In his DJ-Set’s all of this falls into place, with tempi from 119 – 125 bpm, blending deep, dark and psychedelic elements into heavy sweeping bangers, to slowly lead the dance floor into a sweet and endless decay. Robin released music with labels like Stil Vor Talent, Katermukke, Einmusika and has upcoming releases scheduled for Stil Vor Talent & Katermukke in 2023.

Viele Jahre wandere ich nun schon als einsamer Abenteurer durch die Wildnis. Immer auf der Suche nach meiner Bestimmung. Mit der Sonne als Taktgeber für meine Reise ins Unbekannte durchstreifte ich Berge und Täler, Flüsse und Seen, Wälder und Steppen. Die Ruhe verleitete mich zum jetzigen Leben und die Weisheit der Natur bewegte mich zum Bleiben. Hier Draußen konnte ich erfahren was Schönheit bedeutet, aber auch wie brutal das Leben sein kann. Meine Umgebung lehrte mich wachsam zu bleiben, was mir die Augen öffnete. Nun nehme ich Dinge wahr, die jenseits der Normalität liegen. Einzelne unscheinbare Geräusche können mir nun mehr Geborgenheit vermitteln als ein stundenlanges Gespräch unter Freunden. Mein Verstand ist mit Flora und Fauna im Einklang. Ein blindes Verständnis entwickelte sich, geleitet über Gesten statt über Wörter. So konnte ich viel über mich und meine Umwelt lernen und mit mir ins Reine kommen. Glücksgefühle durchströmen nun regelmäßiger meine Nervenstränge und erweichen hier und da meine versteinerte Miene. Doch das Gefühl der Einsamkeit schleicht sich wieder in mein Herz. Gerade an Tagen wie diesen… Ich erhebe meinen Flachmann und trinke auf ein weiteres Jubiläum.

Das DJ- und Produzenten-Duo Bergstock, bestehend aus Lukas und Kevin, stammt aus Köln und hat sich auf melodischen Techno spezialisiert. Ihr Sound ist geprägt von tiefen emotionalen Momenten sowie punshigen Höhepunkten. Genau diese Mischung präsentieren sie auch in der 200ste Ausgabe unseres Podcasts.
