Ever since the German producer known as Claptone got his start just a year ago, he has been awarded artist of the year on the German Trendcharts DCC 2012, and has held his spot on Beatport’s Top 10 Tracks in the deep house category. It’s a gripping deep house production with an expressive melody, driven by the low and eerie bass line. The airy keyboard chords gives it the personality of a dark, daydream vibe, while the progression is rhythmic and funky. 'Wolves’ will be the 1st single from Digitalism that puts the band in a very different place to anything previously released. The last communication from Digitalism marked the beginning of this new direction in the form of a Soundcloud-Only release at the start of 2014. This statement of intent will not relent; 2014 will be The Year of surprises for Digitalism fans, with ‘Wolves’ being the first official release to subscribe to it.

For many fans ‘Wolves’ might seem long over-due, having premiered as the opening track of their Boiler Room DJ set during !Melt Festival, 2013. Since then the band kept an eye on their Socials and the comments, watching the fan-bases’ curiosity naturally grow. The 2nd time ‘Wolves’ was unleashed was once more a opening track for their much-lauded ‘I Love Techno’ DJ Set in December 2013. This time it caused a flurry of fan-driven YouTube videos, since which, each time the band post a new DJ set or link to previous ones, fans ask over again for the release of ‘Wolves.’

Well we are finally prepared to let it go. Why? Again we come to the new direction the band have entered, their music at the heart of it. The first months of 2014 were spent writing in LA and producing new music, road testing demos and ideas at their Twice Monthly East-LA Warehouse parties. The reaction to these shows was incredible, with each of the 4 dates selling-out way in advance, but still queues around the bloc on the nights. In fact the reaction on one date was catastrophic, receiving a Police enforced shut-down with a small army and not one, but two helicopters. Sorry Tax Payers! Since these dates the excitement has been infectious and the results have finally convinced Digitalism that they have a raft of releases to get-out between now and the start of 2015. So let’s go…

Initiating the package, stuttering percussion and echoing effects form the deep and mesmerising ‘Santos Express’. Syncopated rhythms and thudding bass hits then make up ‘LFO’ as twinkling melodies work their magic, before ‘Bird Cage’ introduces soaring chords and tranquil notes. Tying things together, thudding kicks and snappy snares drive ‘Omar’s Deli’ forward as various layers of serene synths and pads are blended together.

Once you’ve got that far, things begin to relativize, delusions of grandeur seem as easy as ABC, thanks to MOONBOOTICA. The powers that be strive for greatness, growth, expansion? MOONBOOTICA rise up to the challenge twice over! Composure through relativization, at the end of the day, MOONBOOTICA always have more in the tank. This calming influence comes courtesy of the “bigger than life” mindset, the classic Funkadelic lesson succinctly stated: “Free your ass and your mind will follow.”

As a DJ and production team, MOONBOOTICA has represented maximum torsion since 1999. But endurance is merely one of the Hanseatic duo’s most distinguished qualities. Together they represent a bulwark against inconstancy and are nevertheless always ready to smash borders. Including their own. There are two of them, after all. If refinement of taste should run the risk of imploding, there’s no better tonic than a dose of MOONBOOTICA. The antithesis to light and minimal dictates. It couldn’t be any easier or more effective. A track, an album, a set – well-being is just a question of the right dose. In case of doubt: more is more. Whilst somehow, the love of a grand pose notwithstanding, remaining the same, in appearance and reality. Without resorting to trickery, ironic dissociation or in-jokes, MOONBOOTICA offer themselves up to the audience. As vulnerable as they are sure of victory, the duo has everything a good, open drama needs. Only that everything does not end up in pools of blood.   

When others reach for anabolics and pimp their track to the limiter with everything they can get their hands on, Kowe Six and Tobi Tobsen simply rely on where they came from. Style was laid in their cradle like a golden curb chain. Their musical trajectory, five albums and hundreds of shows prove as much. MOONBOOTICA is, by nature, greater than everything else. Greater than you or I. Greater than Tobi and Kowe even. At which point we finally come to the introductory quote from Mike Tyson -  but we don’t want to explain the fun of excess again.
