The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

Mountain Altai — a sacred land where the breath of the wind gives birth to legends, where mountains become mirrors of eternity, and rivers flow through the music of time. To celebrate three years of [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB], we unveil a grand sonic chronicle — a 12-volume anthology dedicated to the Mountain Altai. 108 tracks, 108 stories woven by artists from different countries and cities, united into a single sonic map that reveals the beauty and greatness of this sacred region through sound. Perhaps one day, after hearing this message, You’ll feel the call to see it for Yourself. Until then, we invite every listener to journey through the most beautiful and legendary places of Mountain Altai — one of the most mystical corners of our planet.

The first chapter is devoted to the Chuysky Trakt — the road leading straight into the heart of the myth. The Chuysky Trakt connects Siberia and Mongolia, the realms of humans and spirits, time and dimensions. It is a path laid through ridges, rivers, and steppes — following the Katun and the Chuya rivers — and leading to the very heart of the Altai Mountains. Every turn here is a boundary between worlds, every mountain pass a gate, and every stone holds the memory of millennia. Each track is like a stone in the Katun River, a cloud over Mount Belukha, a reflection of light on the morning surface of Lake Teletskoye.

::: Andy Keleher (@user-780749874) closes the chapter with “Fluffy Blanket” — a soft veil, like a cloud over the valley, wrapping the landscape in the breath of sleep. A mist that hides the road as it disappears into the mountains.

Mountain Altai VA is not just a compilation — it is a stellar dub techno collection dedicated to mountains, rivers, and people. The Chuysky Trakt is more than a road through Altai — it is a legendary path that carries the power of the land and shares it with everyone who walks it. It is a symbolic road, a line connecting spaces, cultures, and souls. Vol. 1 opens the gates to our sonic pilgrimage through Mountain Altai. The first part marks the beginning of the journey along the Chuysky Trakt — a road that leads not only through the mountains but deep within oneself.

Grum's manager, Sarah, and I used to share a studio in Dalston and a little over three years ago she looked up from her desk and said, "You are going to love this…" She played me "O Day" by Daniel Trim from Daniel's soundcloud. I was gobsmacked. What a tune! And unsigned too. I couldn't believe it. And the more I looked into it, the more unbelievable it was. Sasha had been playing it [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0kL_58aH38] (Daniel had sent it to him) and still it hadn't been picked up. Right up until I had the paperwork in my hand I was still expecting some strange but reasonable explanation why it wasn't going to be able to sign it. But there wasn't. It was just one of those amazing finds on the internet that record labels have once in a blue moon. 

Since then Daniel has released pretty much all of his music with us and has developed a fan base that includes the likes of Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Laurent Garnier, Gilles Peterson, Andy Weatherall, John Digweed, Skream and Solomun. His records are regulars now in the Beatport charts and with DJs like Butch still ending their sets with "O Day" I thought it was time to revisit this bona fide classic.

Detlef is a producer who is bang on form and just like his recent killer reworks for Sabb and Hot Since 82 he turns O Day into a razor sharp tribal journey - perfect some 2am jacking business. Marc Poppcke is another producer I'm a big fan of. I first picked up his productions on releases for the likes of Get Physical, Diynamic and Last Night on Earth and recently loved his album "35", released on his own Crossfrontier Audio label. His remix is a superb, taking Daniel's haunting strings on an elastic Moroder-esque trip.

As to be honest the dancing-round-your-eardrums flutes and disco stabs really make one feel as I imagine the Sun from Teletubbies felt back in the day, bliss.
