We are proud to present another musical frontier. This time we turn our attention to the Italian Dj, producer and head of the Detroit Side Label - Giacomo Pellegrino.   

Giacomo began his musical journey aged 14 when he learned how to DJ. Growing up he listened to a lot of disco and funk and all kinds of 70s and 80s dance music. He often arranged shows and sets for his friends until he was old enough to play at clubs. As his music knowledge and tastes developed he eventually moved into the realms of House and Techno.  

  In much the same way as ourselves, Giacomo has a huge affinity for all things Detroit and in particular , Detroit Techno. Hence the birth of his own label - Detroit Side. A Vinyl only label which he carefully curates and is home to the likes of Delano Smith, Franck Roger, Nick Beringer, S.A.M and of course Giacomo Himself.   

As a producer , Giacomo is someone we’ve been big fans of since we discovered his music, which features regularly in our mixes and radio shows. Through his productions, which are almost solely created using a variety of hardware, he showcases his extensive abilities and talents, often taking inspiration from nature as well has things from his everyday life.

For this Frontier mix, Giacomo has presented a 60 minute journey, which begin with some really deep atmospheric sounds before teasing in some super deep pulsing kicks. As the mix develops he continues to drop in ambient moments, followed by more deep rhythms and sounds.   

We are honoured to be able to host an artist like Giacomo on our platform and we look forward to seeing how his career progresses in the coming years.

TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. Hello all, show upload now available for this months edition of the Atmospheric Existence radio show on Brightons 1BTN.FM, broadcast on Tue 15th April. Show number 31. This month i welcomed special guest Jayson Wynters. Always a joy to musically frame my guests and try to compliment the individual musically during the 4hrs.

Jayson has been quietly exhibiting on labels such as Delsin, EON, Don't be Afraid, Ornate amongst others. With recent repeat performances at Panorama Bar in Berlin as well as many festivals across Europe. Being a curator / Co-owner at Artum in Birmingham, he's also responsible for consistent lineups of quality. Jayson joined me for a special 2hr guest mix, sandwiched between my opening and closing hour (middle two hours).

Avenue Red welcomes back Glasgow DJ & producer Chris Curtis AKA Theta Waves (moniker for his deep & moody production works). Here we have an immaculate and expansive 2+ hour mix session whose centre of gravity is firmly in the sphere of planet deep techno.

We are hosting an Avenue Red event @ OverDraught in Levenshulme, Manchester on Saturday 10th May from 3pm-1am, where you can catch Chris playing alongside Dubrovnik (UK) (also travelling down from Glasgow for the occasion), Tomas Bexton heading up from Maidstone in Kent and Avenue Red boss Alec Pritchard all commandeering the decks. Get involved!

"Electronic music hasn't just always been a love of mine but playing a set has always been a great way to de-stress and focus on nothing but music for a few hours. Last year was a busy year as I kicked off a new night in Glasgow (Trace) which ran for 6 months, plus preparing the monthly subSine Sessions show takes some time, although it's something I love putting together.

A short while ago I had an opportunity to spend an evening putting a mix together with no reason other than getting into the music and seeing where the journey took me. As opposed to playing live, putting a mix together gives you a great opportunity to plan a set list that really evolves and puts thought to deep transitions.

Unlike most of my other mixes this one was totally unplanned. The only thing I had in mind was capturing the essence of a Trace night into a compressed set of around 2 hours, feeling the vibe as I went, so I guess this is more like a live set in some ways.

When I'd finished the mix I thought this would be a good contender for Avenue Red, I'm glad Alec agreed.

I use Traktor with timecode vinyl on 1210s. Although a pain sometimes in a club it's great for the home setup as it allows me to switch between digital tracks and vinyl without anyone noticing. This also lets me play loads of unreleased material on the monthly subSine show. The Pioneer DJM800 is my weapon of choice mixer-wise.
