Caroline Oakley grew up in a white middle class society in Sydney, not knowing about her Aboriginal background. Finding out about her culture 20 years ago made her question her own identity, as well as how she responded to herself as an Aboriginal person through her art. Dealing with dyslexia, art became her way of expressing herself and most importantly her roots, as she learnt so much about the white Australia's history, and so little about her own. She has a desire to search for history, for the truth; for what makes good art through self-expression as an Aboriginal person.

Over the whistling of Troy Cassar-Daley's "Freedom Ride", Caroline Oakley tells a story of growing up in a white middle class society in Sydney, not knowing about her Aboriginal background.
