On this New Moon we share a special edition for our clubbers;

The episode of our solo projects series, the Art Of, featuring our guest RNGD; Alberto Sánchez, born in Salamanca, based in Seville, is a DJ and producer with a long career as Scan Mode (Electronics) and RNGD (Techno).

He started as Scan Mode in 1998, moving between House and Techno and making a name for himself within the scene, playing all over Spain and being an active critic on renowned platforms such as clubbingspain.com or djmag.es. Throughout his career, I have also created his label, Raw Rootz, as a joint project with Álvaro Sánchez.

RNGD was born in 2018 looking for an honest way to express his facet as a techno artist without affecting his other projects.
With a refined and perfect underground style, influenced by the classic lines of Detroit Techno, he shows his deep knowledge and taste for him through all his works about him.

His first EP, Ground Physics (Reaktive), was the beginning of this successful career. Three original songs and a remix of A Thousand Details.

His tracks and EP have been published by labels such as Dynamic Reflection, Edit-Select, Illegal Alien, Planet Rhythm, Black Codes Experiments, Emphatic Records, Concerns Music, Devotion Records, Children Of Tomorrow, Hardtools Records, DkN Selections, or Signal LTD.

The guest in this episode is a Barcelona-based artist, Javi Lago. He has been on the techno scene in Spain for nearly 2 decades and has been a consistent and unrelenting producer of clear-cut elegantly balanced techno never wavering from his personal opinion of how techno should be made and treated. 

His underground bunker-like studio, slap bang in the center of Barcelona, has been his headquarters for several years now and has played a vital part in providing him with the space, time and creative energy necessary to fuel and hone his ideas. In 2008 founded the record label Sintetics with releases of DJs and producers such as Ludovic Vendi, Traumhaft, Polygon, Holgi Star, Usmev, Artur Nikolaev, Eric Fetcher, Audiolux, Djinxx and Devilfish. To date, the label has had 24 releases and is supported by Laurent Garnier, Timo Maas, Angel Molina, Paco Osuna and Tim Baker among others.
 
What defines Javi most of all is his passion and sincerity when it comes to both his sets and the tracks he produces. He tells a story in his techno which gives out vibes both mentally soothing as well as physically uplifting.  His philosophy about what defines techno can be clearly heard when he plays, as he includes tracks of Swedish influence from DJs such as Adam Beyer and Pär Grindvik.  

He has released on many labels such as Subconce, Pong Musiq, Dpress Industries, Symbolik, Time Trial, Kayf Label and Different is Different Records which EP “Atmos” has been supported and played by Sasha Carassi, Thomas Schumacher, Pascal F.E.O.S or Thomas P. Heckman. His track “Dangerous” has been nominated for the best track of the year at the Vicious Music Awards 2015.

Over the years he has played in several clubs like La Sala del Cel, Be Cool, La Cova, Moog, Razzmatazz, Row 14, Club de Visionaire, U60311, Airport, and has shared the decks with a vast array of artists including Jeff Mills, Oscar Mulero, Gayle San, Gary Beck, Samuel L Session, Alan Fitzpatrick or Joel Mull.

Welcome to our Deform Radio Series: This time our good Alien friend Nitromi Galien from Slovakia delivers a great example of hypnosis with her narrative set, driving us into the special dimensions. 

Nitromi Galien is a woman artist with a strong musical background from her early age. She loves to tell her „out of this world“ stories consisting of current hypnotic techno tracks, extraordinary cosmic soundscapes & atmospheric electronic music.

At the moment, she lives in Slovakia, Europe, where she started her music journey with a production and one year later, she appeared behind the mix for the first time. The same year she performed with her set at Boiler Room Open Dancefloors Bratislava.

In 2022 she introduced her new future music project ON THE MISSION, which includes a moderated techno podcast and a specific hypnotic event with international line-up. Nitromi believes in mutual artist support, quality music and better future. And that's what is behind all her music activities.

Luca Redivo, in art R/D/V, is an Amsterdam-based audio engineer and Techno DJ/Producer who discovered his passion for music at an early age. 
Starting from his position of vinyl lover and careful researcher of sophisticated music, he soon came into contact with the European club culture. 
His DJ sets and productions are focused on a refined sound that varies between the most obscure Berlin Techno shades; they are characterised by organic drums and analogue synths.

R/D/V has recently released on [R]3volution, Secret Keywords, Devotion, West Rules, Immaterial Archives and Eclectic Limited. He is part of the RRVRNT booking agency and has lately performed for Techno Cartel, Polish Techno.logy, Tech Clubbers, Résilience, Genau and Lounge Squatt. 
Whilst collaborating and contributing to conceptual initiatives such as ArknA, Luca currently engineers at his studio and venue 8sixA.

Introducing the upcoming bombs with subtle harmonic first steps, the path starts to draw itself slightly, just to go ahead in a heavy bass line surrounded by raw percussions and his distinctive distortions, creating a slashing atmosphere direct.

The strength of the intense sound evolves from the low-key rhythm to the serious groove of what sounds like a fierce gallop that shakes an uncontrollable body, providing some well-chosen breath breaks, to continue blowing up beats and minds in a wisely way, relentless industrial effect played for experienced listeners.

Fine selection in this rough race, constructed definitely for the dancefloor. An introspective elegance exhibition led by a young mastery with senior skills.

Born and raised in Italy since ‘98, Pyramidal Decode is the pseudonym of a Techno polyhedric producer.

His first track was published in 2012 under another alias. In 2017 he created Pyramidal Decode, releasing his works in labels such as Subsist records, DeadCert rec, Labrynth, Parabola records and many others.

His music has been defined relentless and precise, characterized by intense percussion and analogue sparks, it also has dub influences but it ends up as a twisted, dark and hypnotic voyage.

2020 and 2021 have been years of major evolution in Pyramidal Decode’s production, he released on Edit Select, Modularz, Dynamic Reflection, B55, Hard Tools rec, and more…

2022 has been the best year of his production yet, starting off with a 10 tracks album named ‘Cosmic Paradox’ on Jeff Mill’s Axis Recordings, published at the end of February. 

He also confirmed his presence on Dynamic Reflection by Abstract Division, releasing his second solo EP "Dysfunctional System”.
While his name was spreading in European clubs, his tracks were released on Faut Section, followed by the track ‘Ghera’, his first  vinyl on End Of Perception.

At the end of November ‘Logical Inference’ had been released in Oscar Mulero’s Warm Up, a solo EP composed by 7 tracks that closed his 10th year of production.

In the last year he performed in various European countries including Bulgaria, Holland, Germany, Spain and Italy, bringing his sound to stages like CassetteClub (Madrid), Melkweg (Amsterdam), Mensch Meier (Berlin), Lanna Club (Gijon) and more.

Due to the production capacity of its author, it is worthy of our Composers series. But our guest's willingness to also express himself with an exquisite unreleased selection of some of his professional compatriots in addition to his own, was as intriguing as the work turned out to be.

The Art of Staffan Linzatti, taking an exclusive position among our series, is almost a 'memoir with tiny touches'. As a result, a selective, advanced, addictive, and effective Mix.

Starts beatless dropy and bleepy on the intro tune, going subtly into the route organically, with asymmetrical streaks and textures.
Cosmic trails tinkle with the captivating groove of the dancehall, the bass, the complex rhythms, and the dances begin. Tension gives way to the immersive tempo, refined and attractive, while the bewitching background and repeating beeps will perform the main scene.

Dropping clues throughout the story allows the listener to generate their theories about the solution to the mystery, but taking care of the balance between being too obvious or too tricky, keeping them in sonic uncertainty until the closing.

His drive towards obliterating boundaries and developing new forms and structures in sound is not only a way for him to express his creativity but also encourages and facilitates a natural evolution artistically. Together with his brother Mathias, he runs the record label Searchlights Records. A label dedicated to the exploration and understanding of how we observe occurring events. The maiden debut of an anthologist queen in the Composers series, It can't have a better signature than Denise Rabe's.

Her journey in the industry is eloquently mirrored in her unique, distinctive voice as a producer. 

Her approach and unwavering work ethic are evident in every release under her own label, Rabe. Here, her music is not just presented, but crafted with meticulous care, thought, and effort. This dedication extends seamlessly to the overall aesthetic and vision that encompasses not only her music but also the artwork and presentation associated with it. 

This commitment has enabled her to attract like-minded artists whose work resonates with her sensibilities. This collaboration is demonstrated in the compelling remixes produced by artists such as Rrose, Shxcxchcxsh, Headless Horseman, and others, who have contributed their talents to her releases on her label as well as other reputable platforms.

Noteworthy imprints such as Mutewax, which hosted her debut 12" in 2015, ARTS, where she rapidly solidified her position as one of the label's key figures, and Stroboscopic Artifacts, where her EP "Manifesto" was unveiled in 2019, provide clear reference points in tracing the trajectory of her career and its evolution. 2023 she set her tone on SOMA Records with her track "Walking On Boarders". 

Denise Rabe's distinctive inclination towards sparse industrial soundscapes, gothic aesthetics, and groove-driven compositions, enriched with hypnotic hooks that simultaneously mesmerize and distinguish her sound, has propelled her illustrious 10-year career across stages spanning the United States, Asia, and Europe. Our induction to dance podcast 008, comes from Michel Lauriola featuring in a big way, preheating his Europe tour to showcase his sound, and what a talented mixing storyteller he is. 

Having built a name when it comes to crafting top-notch techno, the artist is one of the finest South American techno DJs and producers around, with his tracks pumping on sound systems at raves globally, and residency on the well-respected Under Club (AR).

This episode in our platform delivers Michel's boosting, in a transitory development with hints of mental that intertwine bringing Lauriola’s signature dark sound, with impeccably crafted percussion, heavy cadent lows, and recurring industrial strokes.

His intensity, speed, strength, and fervency rhythms gather intense moments on solid dance floors. There are no rules in Lauriola's round.

▸ Venezuela, Italy, and Argentina have witnessed the evolution of Michel Lauriola. It is in Buenos Aires where he finds his place to settle as a producer and resident artist of the most important club concept in the country, where the best international techno genre proposals are accommodated in each episode of Under Club. 

As a DJ, he has 20 years of experience in booths as relevant as Tresor (Germany), The Glasgow School of Art (Scotland), Razzmatazz (Spain), Moderna Club (Colombia), and Under Club (Argentina) among others. 

His studio musical proposals show his most personal facet, always with rhythmic, deep, and euphoric bases that transmit and excite the dance floor. 

He has a long discographic trajectory of more than 10 years editing on labels as prominent as Faut Section, Aine - Polegroup, Planet Rhythm, Edit Select, and Children of Tomorrow. 

It is Marco Bailey who gives him the opportunity to create an album for his Materia label in 2022. "It's in my head. It's in my brain" consists of 11 tracks that represent his versatility as a producer and coexist in his extensive sound background. 

Eager for new challenges, Michel Lauriola prepares for the following musical projects with which to surprise and continue developing all his mastery.

The tenth chapter completes 'The Composers' at the end of the year, with an impressive psychedelic outbreak that categorically illustrates the meaning of our being.

The piece is an authentic enthralling sail to the underworld, propelled highlighting beyond what you've heard massively, or what you could expect.

Giri manipulates our path through the controlled chaos. Harmonious introduction, triggering a hesitated sensorial development, static beats play gradually, while hypnotic percussion crafts between atmospheric loops and synthesized vocals in an intense abduction way.

Extensive drums, roaring kicks, and bass continuously surrounded by echoing voices like resonant spells strike among abstract effects, while a lasting swift rhythm advances. 

"For any conceivable purpose, designed and fabricated with a snap of a finger. Really, the forge it is more like a knowledge of craft virtual creativity."

Taking you somewhere, transcending you into a higher level, unconsciously, when you realize it, almost 1:30 hours will have passed as in another dimension. A masterfully balanced palette where the crunchy noise of the drums and rhythms will hook you wide awake with a dangerous and delicious dance.

Far away for a fast walk of fame, this is what Techno is supposed to be, and Giri demonstrates his domination of his conceptual sound, and how he can make it special and unique.

Giri, aka Gi Napoletano, started playing music at a very young age in his native city, Naples.

His approach to music production occurred with a makeshift DAW, a PlayStation videogame. Since then, he pursued both passions: synthesizers and sound design and djing and record collection.

Natural leanings guided him towards the purest Detroit techno of the second wave and the darkest UK scene; through time he built a personal deep timbre, a very raw and hypnotic techno groove, definable by a peculiar sound that is recognizable in productions and DJ sets as well.

Only vinyl sets and three decks sets aren't missing in his curriculum in which there are performances with artists such as Laurent Garnier, Steve Bicknell, Juan Atkins, Anthony Rother, Moritz Von Oswald, Octave One, Matthew Herbert, Scan7, Rolando, Recondite, Apparat e many others.

Most significant album and EP releases are on labels like Axis, Awry, Antiterra, Evod, No Signal, Labyrinth, Prophet, New Rhythmic, Srie, Ketra, and more.

In 2020 Giri founded Antiterra Records, which can mention in its catalog artists like Wrong Assessment, Divide, Decoder, Translate e Pulso, Aske, Marcelo Antonio, Booz, Joaquin Ruiz, Berkel, Black Hypnotist, P.God and Dez.

Dalibor Krc aka Loktibrada aka Olga + Josef  desde que se convierte en 1994 en Dj professional se ha ido curtiendo una carrera como dj y como productor que le han llevado por rincones de medio planeta gracias a sus producciones tanto como Loktibrada como con su seudónimo más famoso: Olga+Josef. Comenzó como residente en el legendario U Club de Bratislava junto a Tibor Holoda. Juntos pincharon cada viernes noche durante 5 años. Al proyecto se les unió en 1998 otro de los Djs más populares de Eslovaquia, Rumenige. El primer invitado internacional del club fue Jeff Mills en 1996 y la historia del club llegó a su fin en el 2003 habiendo acogido entre sus paredes a artistas como Regis & Female, Christian Wünsch & Óscar Mulero, Steve Bicknell, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, Andrew Weatherall, David Holmes, James Ruskin, Neil Landstrumm, Misjah, y un largo etcétera. Como productor debuta en 1996 con la primera referencia del mítico sello Antidandruff, siendo dos años más tarde cuando crea Olga+Josef (igual que su seudónimo más conocido), a la vez que publica producciones más experimental bajo el seudónimo de Kre para el sello Numb. En el 2000 junto a Brano/Standa crea un nuevo label donde publicar música de productores eslovacos como internacionales. De nombre Palicavonzvreca, en sus referencias podemos encontrar a artistas de la talla de Pacou, Takaaki Itoh, Hardcell, Regis, Female, Óscar Mulero, Christian Wünsch, Boss, HU, o Rumenige. Dos años más tarde logra entrar en el catálogo de Tresor con el EP Petrzalka que produce junto a Rumenige. En el 2004 publica un cd mix en Antidandruff junto a Rumenige titulado Evergreens & Everblacks. Como remezclador durante todos estos años ha metido mano en producciones de Óscar Mulero, Function, Hardcell, Mark Broom, Makaton, HU, Fanon Flowers, Radial o Takaaki Itoh.

Kicking off the series is none other than Jeroen Search (Figure, Dynamic Reflection), one of our favourite all-time artists and who we had the absolute pleasure of playing for us back in 2018. The Dutchman is one of Techno’s most influential producers, but is also a well-kept public secret. Putting out consistently high quality music since the mid nineties, he is always right at the sharp end of the Techno spectrum. Keeping him there are the slick beats he releases on his own genre-defining label Search, as well as those on Figure, Dynamic Reflection and many others. Given his always refreshing output, he has seen no need to completely reinvent himself and instead keeps on putting out his always timeless Techno, spellbinding audiences with his expertly crafted DJ sets and truly inspirational live sets, and claiming his space at the table of the absolute cutting edge of Techno. This exclusive DJ set for Natural Selection is entirely made up of material from himself and his long-standing label 'Search' and we feel honoured to have him involved in the series and bring you this unheard masterpiece.

I was really happy to do a 5 hours mix on Maxximum Radio https://maxximum.fr  
A bit of history about the radio…
It started in 1989 in France, it was the only radio where you could listen to electronic music 24/7. They were also doing parties once a month in different clubs and I was recording the whole night on tapes (cassettes). The only way to do this at that time was to change the tape every 1h30 so it means that I was awake the whole night and I was going to school in the morning like a zombie… This radio had a big influence on me. It was hard to find the vinyl of the sets but it was a good challenge. 
I was also doing mixtapes inspired by the radio and sold them to my friends in school so I could invest in more vinyl. 
Put your dancing shoes on and get ready for 5 hours of proper Rave techno. 💃
