Originally from the US and now residing in Spain, a musical veteran with a career spanning more than a decade, it's safe to say Bukkha runs things when it comes to fuelling sound systems. On top of his long-standing involvement in the thunderous Moonshine Rec. discography, the prolific artist maintains a consistent record of top-shelf releases on numerous famed record labels within the global melting pot of Dub-influenced dance music, including System Music, Dub-Stuy, Lion Charge, and so on. His 'In Roots Vol. 1' debut LP features seven talented guest artists from around the globe, the extended Dub family in full force and effect - connected to Bukkha through previous projects, shared tours and overall engagement in the scene. The symbiotic nature of the collaborations can be heard and felt as big stacks of speakers lend their voice to the musical message. Rebellious sounds for the healing of the nation. In a conscious stepper style, the release marches through original future classics - whether instrumental or led by the Rastafarian teachings of Mowty Mahlyka, anthem brass melodies by JahWind All-Stars, harmonica meditation by Hazeldub or Don Fe's notoriously brilliant flute virtuosity. With true to the roots delay and reverb effects in the original Dub fashion, the album pays tribute to the technique pioneered by the likes of King Tubby, nothing less than a next-generation torchbearer. We met Bukkah in winter 2019 on a session with the Basskateers in Jena. Soon it was clear that we gonna work together on a record release for BCSM. Bukkah is well known for his lush bass music productions and soon came up with a heavy steppers riddim. Instantly we imagined some upfront vocals on this one so we called none other than microphone matador Longfingah to ride on the riddim. Longfingah loved the tune and brought some nice lyrics in his 
style and fashion to the production. Still Reppin' is made for soundsystem dances, shakin' up everything with his heavy bass and gives a big shoutout to all crews and veterans. Flip the record to explore a version by Plug Dub Soundsystems Toni Wobble, 
who is taking the original production to another level by mixing an ultra heavy dub version in a Wobble style.

Bristol’s Dubkasm is an absolute pillar of the worldwide roots, dub, and sound system movement.  In fact it’s hard to imagine the contemporary UK dub scene without them. Massive releases on Peng! Sound, Bristol Archive, ZamZam, and especially their own Sufferah’s Choice and Dubkasm labels have made Stryda & Digistep household names among lovers of contemporary sound system reggae.  Holding down and forwarding traditional dubplate culture for 25 years now, “Two X Two” showcases two slices of two different tunes, both in a raw steppers style, and demonstrates why they are among the world’s most beloved groups, a link back to the elder generations of Bristol sound, and a beacon to the younger.
 
“Discipline,” presented in two pieces, cuts to the chase with a massive, relentless, fully saturated digital bassline blasting straight into the future of dubwise steppers.  No surprise that it has a ‘Year 3000’ vibe, as it was, in Stryda’s words “originally built for Iration Steppas to run at Teachings In Dub against his pupil Sinai Sound.  All those who remember the dubplate special version “schooool him iyaaaah..!!”  If the main mix, "Discipline", feels extra heady for a ‘Part 1,’ the "Lights On Mix" charts a course even further into reverb space with the tape echo running mad and the snares ricocheting to infinity.

Opening with a beautifully resonant piano figure, “The Key” featuring Ashanti Selah is another propulsive steppers, also presented in two pieces, this one with a galloping live-drums feel, Digi’s sax surfacing majestically through the flurry of syndrum and rim shots.  Of “The Key” Stryda says “it’s been played by Aba Shanti-I on dubplate for the past couple of years, and there is a Keety Roots vocal and horns cut which rumour has it will see the light of day next year…” Stay tuned!!
