The Language Of Love

I wrote this in my 20s in the Apartheid era as a tribute to the many people we lost.

During this time our home and our church were invaded by the Special Branch while we were holding meetings. Our phone was tapped, and at work I received a scare call from the Wit Wolf that a bomb was placed in our legal offices. And yet my anti-apartheid involvement was very light-touch and perfectly legal! Heady days indeed.

I always loved this track - and in a world that seems increasingly like a disaster movie with the combination of Covid-19, Trump and the George Floyd protests, the track resonated even more. 

I changed the lyrics in the last verse from "Hand out the arms and ammo, we're going to blast our way through here" to "Lock up your arms and ammo, we're gonna march our way through here". There's enough violence and chaos in the world. Democracy moves when we are able to be heard. Stay safe out there.
