Exist Festival/Records returns with its first release of 2023 and its second compilation “No ComplY” a Gaza Skate Park, Fundraiser Compilation. The Compilation features a rare assemblage of dear friends of the label, representing the Arabian-Orient and African region. The compilation pays homage to Skate Gaza, a Skate Park near the port of Gaza City, which since 2014 has cultivated a temporary passage of salvation for children escaping what is now commonly accepted as the world’s largest open-air concentration camp.

The Skate Park has now evolved into a beacon of hope and an indispensable entity that has empowered children with a sense of community,  striving towards a collective sense of liberation and purpose. The Skate Park provides a momentary interlude in space and time, away from an atmosphere, habitually marked by severe dehumanization and premeditated infrastructural deterioration, designed to both regress and ethnically cleanse the besieged inhabitants of Gaza.

The Hip-hop, pan-African rap, and Industrial Electronics inspired compilation will be available on a limited-edition Compact Disc (CD) and available for listening & streaming via Bandcamp, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Apple Music. The release will feature a limited press of “No Comply” T-shirts and a very limited number of “No Comply” skateboards, with a unique design for each skateboard, crafted by our very own Tala & Bader who have been the masterminds behind the project's art direction.

All profits from the release will be distributed to the Skate Gaza team, in an effort to support and expand the Skate Parks mission. We have partnered with 7hills Skate team in Amman who will be providing skating equipment to the team in Gaza, as well as providing free lessons & skills training for the Skate Park team and children.

☄ In May, longtime Vief collaborator halle o’malley got in touch with an idea. She’d come across the Instagram of a 17-year old Palestinian musician called Samih, whose life has been torn apart as a result of Israel's recent onslaught on the Gaza strip. Their home was destroyed, Samih and his family were forced to flee to a refugee camp in Rafah. During their displacement, Samih has gone viral posting videos of himself singing and playing a borrowed oud.
 
☄ Having spoken to Samih, Halle planned to sample one of these videos and donate the proceeds from the sales of the track to a gofundme set up for Samih’s family. She approached the label with the idea of turning this project into a compilation akin to previous Vief fundraiser releases.

Over the past few years, Nahash and ABADIR have been sharing food recipes, the same sense of humour, and their love for 90's rave, Beth Gibbons, Sun Ra, and grilled lamb. They met last summer for the first time and enjoyed a B2B together during a label showcase in Fano, Italy. Their memories of and appreciation for 90’s and early 00’s Arabic pop music inspired their first collaboration on SVBKVLT. Marchadair is the distillation of the meaty club sound by both producers; ABADIR’s micro-edited audio sampling and surgical chopped percussions mixed with Nahash’s lavish dub techniques and hefty bass, all serving as the main ingredients for these 4 heavyweight tracks. To close the menu, the EP features remixes by Ehua and Toumba.

The track titles play on a symbolic link between both artists and their native languages, using French words that have morphed into Egyptian slang. This Franco-Egyptian mixture echoes the hybrid sound of the EP.

DNZA and Undrwght, two Mexican producers from Tlaxcala, make their anticipated debut on Terminal with "Ravers," the first glimpse of their upcoming self-titled EP. This release marks the fourth collaboration between these artists, who have built their reputation through a sonic approach that fuses the intensity of Latin bass with the textures of club music, drawing influences from hard drum, baile funk, and leftfield bass. In this single, DNZA and Undrwght push the boundaries of club sound and Latin bass.

Recorded at DNZA’s studio in Tlaxcala, "Ravers" is the product of an improvisational process where studio sessions become a sonic laboratory. The producers have struck a perfect balance between experimentation and dancefloor functionality. Inspired by the energy and atmosphere of raves, the track bridges textures and rhythms that echo the raw and powerful vibrations of both UK and Latin American club music.

"Ravers" is both a tribute to rave culture and a testament to the evolving sound of DNZA and Undrwght. With every release, they refine their craft, cementing themselves as one of the most exciting collaborations in the Mexican scene.
