The inspiration for "Shining Star" stems from Mishell Ivon and Vincent Kwok's shared love for the joyful and optimistic spirit of the 80s. Both artists grew up surrounded by the era’s uplifting melodies and danceable beats, and they wanted to capture that same energy in a song that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

For Mishell Ivon, the song's message of self-confidence and resilience was central.
